Glomgold had always had afeeling that when he’d die Scrooge would be there. Wasn’t it fitting?That death would take them together?

What he hadn’t expectedwas that the whole world would end with them.

Sure, in hindsight, usingthe gold magnet to attract a giant golden comet to Earth had been abad idea.

Just too bad they had bothbeen so wrapped up in their competition they had realized it toolate.

“Not long now. All wecan do is hope that Donald manages to stop it in time.” Scroogeremoved his jacket. “It’s getting hotter.”

He sat next to Glomgold.

“So it’s all up to yournephew?”

Scrooge let out a sigh.“Anything you’d like to say, Flinty? Any confessions?”

“What are you blatheringon about?”

Scrooge leaned in closer.“I have just sometimes wondered…”

He lifted a hand to strokeFlinty’s cheek. “It’s all going to be over, now… Why keep secretsat this point?”

Glomgold froze.

Is he going to kiss me?

The thought wasridiculous. And yet, the way Scrooge was moving closer-

“What are you doing,McDuck?”

Scrooge stopped, theirbills barely touching. “I’m trying to kiss you. I figured themoment was right and even if it isn’t it’s not like there’s going tobe all that many moments left so even a bad moment will do-”

Glomgold pushed him away.“How dare you.”

Scrooge frowned. “Youdon’t want to?”

“Of course I do not!What ever gave you the idea I am a- that I ever would want to-NO! I always knew you were a disgusting little thing, McDuck, butthis is a new low even for you!”

An unreadable emotionflashed on Scrooge’s features. “You-”

A sound of staticinterrupted him. “Uncle Scrooge?”

Scrooge fumbled for thewalkie talkie. “D-donald?”

“I did it!”

“You a what now?”

“We stopped the comet!Gyro’s machine came through! We-”

“Oh.”

Glomgold watched a smilespread on Scrooge’s bill as he replied to his nephew.

Dammit.

Flinty had been fine withit. When the world was ending. But now-

He suddenly couldn’t standthe thought of life continuing, with Scrooge under the impression hethought of him with disgust. Not like that.

“Scrooge.”

“Hm? I think we can justforget all about the-”

“No. I am- Scrooge, Iwasn’t… It wasn’t completely true. What I said.”

Glomgold pulled Scroogecloser. “It wasn’t true at all really. You were right.”

He gently brushed againstScrooge’s bill in nervous invitation.

An invitation that Scroogetook eagerly.

We have to keep going.The world will keep existing after we step out of this office, andthis happened.

Flinty was pulled into anembrace and it at least for the moment felt all right.
