I wrote a cangkriman (Javanese riddle) that my grandma taught me when I was in primary school. I remember we were on a trip to a family gathering in another province and we were taking a break in the car, both of us sitting side by side. She said "Sega sakepel dirubung tinggi (a fist of rice covered in bedbugs), guess what it is." and when she told me the answer, I was wow-ed, thought that really made sense, I could picture it, lol, that I still remember it until today. The answer is salak, or snake fruit!

Anyways, I have this dumb theory about salak pondoh (that I've never looked up whether it's true or not). It's that if the adults (salak usually have two parent, the big ones with seeds, and a child, the small without seed one, fruit kind-of situation hahaha) have a crack on it, it means it tastes sweet, not the crunchy, green apple, type.
