One Piece World 💛  Father Mihawk requested by Anon

You were his only surviving child so it was obvious that he would be a concerned and protective father but he knew that you couldn’t be by his side forever. That’s why he always kept tabs on you and your crew. He never interfered since he trusted you but he always wants to know that you are okay. He had sent you a letter, letting you know that he was making his way to you so that he could see you on Valentine’s Day. 

This was fine for you since you haven’t seen your father in a long while and it would be nice for him to meet your crew. Your crew was currently situated at an island for supplies and for some sightseeing as the island was filled with beautiful flowers and plants. You went to a bar with your crew, happily cheering with the drinks in your hands and listening to the music. As you drank your water, you heard a throat clear behind you. You turned around and grinned at your father who was standing there, slightly uncomfortable.

You got up and hugged him, his arms immediately hugging back while there were other people whispering about the great Dracule Mihawk that just walked in.

“Dad! I’m glad you got here!” He gently patted your head and pulled away.

“It’s been a while, Daisy.” You smiled at the nickname, having earned it after all the times you went out when you were younger and came back with a bunch of daisies in his hands. 

“Still got that nickname going on, huh?” He shrugged.

“It sticks.” He noticed all the rambunctious crew members around the bar and he raised an eyebrow. “Your crew, I take it?” You grinned and turned around to your crew members.

“Yeah! This is my crew! I’ll introduce you to them!” You introduced your father to your crew members (even though they knew the infamy behind the man) and your father was polite enough to shake hands with your crew. Many stared in awe at him and even looked at their hands as if they never wanted to forget that moment. You took note to tease them about it later.

“I trust that they are keeping you safe?” You raised an eyebrow at him and put your hands on your hips.

“I can handle myself.”

“I understand but you need a strong crew to be safe and to protect each other.”

“Says mister lone wolf.” The two of you stared at each other before he sighed and looked away.

“Good point.” You grinned and grabbed a drink for him, putting it in his hand.

“I win.” He rolled his eyes and took a gulp of the drink.

“I’m just concerned, Daisy.” You sighed softly but smiled up at him.

“I’m fine, dad. I’m glad you came to celebrate with me.” He hummed softly and drank the rest of his drink, watching as you enjoyed yourself with your crew. A hint of a smile on his lips at seeing your untamed red hair bounce with every cheers you made with your crew.

You spent the whole night with your father and the crew at the bar until the two of you went for a walk. The two of you spent the time talking about your adventures and his duties as a shichibukai. The path the two of you walked along had flowers growing on both sides of the path. He smiled softly as you reminded him of the past and how you acted as a child. As the night came to a close, he walked you back to your ship and helping you onto it.

“You don’t want to stay the night, dad?” He shook his head. 

“I’ll head back tonight. Who knows what Perona’s been up to while I’ve been gone.” That made you laugh, never having met the pink haired woman but from what your father has told you, she must be a unique individual.

“Right. Thanks for coming all this way.” He shook his head and smiled, a rare occurrence even to you.

“I’m your father. It doesn’t matter how far away you are, I’ll come to you when you want me to or need me to.” You smiled softly as he walked off to your own bed. You went to your bedroom and blinked, seeing a bouquet of daisies on your nightstand. You smiled softly and sighed playfully.

The two of you had been out at sea for a while since Mihawk had some business to discuss with the Red Haired pirates’ captain. A trip he was begrudgingly forced into. It was better this time because he had you join him, his fiancé. You knew that he would rather be home reading the newspaper or some book in his library with a hot cup of tea but life as a Warlord had its tribulations. 

The two of you were sat on opposite sides of the boat, sitting in a comfortable silence. That is, until he got the sudden urge to have you closer. In private, he wasn’t opposed to showing you affection but it was difficult for him to start any towards you. He sighed and looked at you as you looked to the ocean waves that were calm for the weather today.

“Natalie.” You jumped a bit at his voice and looked, head tilting slightly at his sudden call. 

“Hmm? What is it?” His hand raised and he waved them lazily in his direction. You blinked and smiled softly before standing up and taking cautious steps towards him. The boat rocked precariously after a rather rough wave. He quickly reached out and grabbed your hand to steady you. He was your balance as you reached him finally and sat down where he pointed. 

He wrapped his arms around your waist as you sat down in between his legs. You leaned back against his chest as he rested his head against your shoulder. You smiled softly, pressing a small kiss to the side of his head. 

“I almost fell into the ocean because you wanted to cuddle?” You teased, reaching up to poke his forehead. He grunted softly and rolled his eyes.

“Maybe.” You blushed lightly and giggled, moving your hand to cup his face and tilting your head enough to press a small kiss to his lips. 

“What if I fell into the ocean?” He smirked as his hands squeezed your waist gently.

“Then I’d go get you. That’s a dumb question.” Your bottom lip popped out in an adorable pout as he chuckled softly. 

“Hey. Don’t be mean to me.” He hummed softly and grasped your hand that was still on his cheek. His thumb gently pressed down on your palm as his gaze landed on the ring he had given you. A soft smile replaced his smirk as he remembered your expression and your reaction.

He felt like getting close to people was a waste of time and rarely even wanted to be around people. One of the reasons why he lived on the island basically isolated from the outside world. But once he met you, he had a change of heart. He saw you as a companion at first but it became much more. He was afraid at first but then he would see how you smiled and blush around him and knew that this was something he thought would be worth fighting for. After being with you for nearly a year, he knew that he wanted moments with you for as long as you both would live. 

You noticed the distant look in his eyes and the soft smile on his lips, making you blush at the unusual expression on his face. You moved your hand to hold his and intertwined your fingers together.

“What is it? You look like you were lost in thought.” He hummed softly again before lifting your hand to his lips, brushing his lips against your knuckles.

“I’ll have to make it up to you.” You blinked and turned around in his grip to be face to face.

“What do you mean?” He raised an eyebrow, his gold eyes meeting your brown ones.

“It’s Valentine’s Day today yet we’re out here in the middle of the sea.” Your mouth formed a small ‘o’ shape as you realized that he was right. You giggled and leaned forward, nuzzling your nose against his gently before you smiled at his barely noticeable blush.

“You can make it up to me by buying me dinner and finding us a place to sleep with an actual bed once we land.” He stroked your brown hair back with a small nod.

You were really grateful to Perona for bringing you to safety after spending a crazy night on the island. You washed up on shore and you were immediately put in danger. If it weren’t for the pink haired ghost girl, you’d surely be dead in the forest somewhere. Perona’s appearance was shocking enough but when she brought you to a dark and gothic style looking castle when you felt your heart stopped in your chest at the gorgeous man in front of you.

His sharp features made you conflicted on whether to run away or to stare at him longer. You chose the latter. 

“This is Mihawk. This is his castle. He lets me stay here.” She had said, her feet hovering above the ground. You snapped out of your stupor and smiled nervously at the intensity in his eyes.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Christian.” You noticed the sword that was strapped to his back and, before you knew it, you cracked one of your jokes. “Well, this night took a sharp turn.” The two people in front of you stared at you until Perona broke out into laughter. Mihawk raised an eyebrow. He saw that you were staring at the sword on his back and sighed.

Perona had begged the man to let you stay until your wounds healed at least. It seemed like she took a liking to you immediately, especially after your greeting with Mihawk. You had bravery to crack a joke in front of such a powerful man like him. He must have taken a liking to you (or he must have been sick as Perona has joked before) because he let you stay at the castle. He did mention that once you were healed you could go but your visit became much longer.

Now, here you were, being pushed to Mihawk’s library by your pink haired friend. When she checked the date on the top of the newspaper, she decided that today was the day that you would get a backbone. Before you could complain and resist, she had shoved you into the library and slammed the door before disappearing. You almost tripped over your own feet but you braced yourself on the couch. You were about to call after her when you heard a throat being cleared from behind you. You turned and faced Mihawk who was raising an eyebrow at you.

“Christian.” You chuckled nervously and scratched the back of your head.

“Sorry to disturb you, Mihawk. Mind if I join you?” He hummed before turning his attention back to the newspaper in his hand. You went over to the bookshelf and plucked out a book that you usually read around him. You plopped down on the arm chair at the opposite side of the room. You curled up on the chair and pretended to skim through the lines. You really were just sneaking peaks to the man across from you. Your gaze lingered a while too long because he looked up and your eyes met his.

“Something the matter?” A blush filled your cheeks as your brain scattered for a response.

“Um... Want to hear a joke?” He didn’t answer you but from the way he folded the newspaper in his lap, you knew he was listening. You grinned and thought up of a good joke to tell the never-smiling man in front of you. Outside the window, you spotted two birds land on a nearby branch. “I got it! What do you call two birds in love?” He raised an eyebrow and his gaze fell to the floor, probably overthinking and taking the question rather seriously like he always does with your jokes. It was one of the reasons you found him cute.

“I’ll amuse you then. What are they called?” He mumbled, giving up on coming up with the answer. A large grin lifted your lips as the answer bubbled in your chest and spilled out.

“Tweethearts!” He stared at your grinning expression and you swore you saw how the corners of his lips twitched. 

“Clever. You look proud of yourself.” You grinned, tapping the book in your hands with your fingertips.

“Come on. You gotta be impressed. I came up with that on the spot.” A small smirk from him made you blush and your chest warm up. Just a small gesture sent your heart fluttering.

“Hmm. I guess you’re right. It was quick thinking.” You expected the room to fall into a silence once again but were pleasantly surprised when he folded the newspaper once more and put it to the side. “What would you like to do?” The question caught you off guard, unsure of what to answer to the man.

“Huh?” He got up and walked over to you, plucking the book out of your hand and putting it on the side table. Confused, and now flustered from the distance between the two of you, you looked up at him and you noticed that his brow was subtly raised.

“There’s not much we can do in here but we can look for something. Or would you rather just continue to stare at me?” You felt your cheeks and neck heat up at that last part and looked away from his eyes.
