The Red Prince and Character Growth

I think it’s easy to dismiss The Red Prince as the arrogant blowhard of the party at the beginning of the game, and while that may be true, his character development is unparalleled with anyone else in the game. Take this conversation, right before you ascend (or not) to godhood at the end of the game:Â

(I ship Sadha/TRP so hard you guys, even if it is already canon)
Honestly, it’s the above pictures that truly makes The Red Prince an amazing character by the end. Watching his origin story, he makes it clear that his entire goal is to reclaim his throne, take back the power he feels was unrightfully stolen from him.Â
But his journey has shown him that there are far more important things than wielding power: love, family, friendship, and brotherhood, to name a few. He’s grown immeasurably in what he values, and from the tone of his voice it’s clear that he’d give up all his power and station for them if given the chance. And it’s all but stated in the following picture.
The Red Prince’s journey is by far my favorite. From stubborn and spoiled but lonely brat to someone who understands what’s really important in the world, he’s notable from the other origin characters in that what he wants changes over the course of the game (except possibly Fane, who is also an amazing character). Lohse just wants her demon gone. Ifan wants Alexander dead. Sebille wants her master dead. Beast wants Justinia dead. By the end, The Red Prince just wants to relax under the Ancient Empire’s sun with his love and watch his children fly.
