GuyHal with "I can't walk." *NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING AT ALL*
“I can't walk,” Hal says flatly, refusing to meet Guy's gaze. His hands clench on the white bedsheets, the slow steady beeping of one of medical's many machines filling the air.
“What?” the red headed Lantern says, thrown by the brunette's comment. He'd come in to ask Hal about a situation on Me'tav, near the border of 2814 and 2813 and when Hal could help.
“I said, I can't walk,” Hal repeats angrily. “It's apparently a 'fuck you' from Parallax. After the last time I managed to get possessed it left a bit of a fail safe that even if I got it out of me again it would make my life hell and it did. I'm paralyzed from the waist down; according to Soranik there's no apparent nerve damage, but an entire section is just missing. There's nothing that can be done. I have to leave the Corps, I'm useless like this.”
“They're throwing you out because you're paralyzed,” Guy asks incredulous. “You're joking right?”
“You think they'd keep around a useless Lantern?” Hal asks with a dark chuckle. “I'm too much of a liability paralyzed. They told me that I'm being 'retired'. I have no clue what I'm going to do on Earth. I can't work as a test pilot paralyzed and there's going to be a lot of unanswerable questions about what happened to me.”
“Hal...” Guy sits down beside his friend. “You know all of us will be there for you right? And can't you talk to Batman or Green Arrow? About working maybe for one of their companies?”
“Maybe,” Hal says shortly. “Guy, can you please just...go? I want to be left alone.”
Guy nods silently. While normally he'd try to get a reaction out of Hal, try to drag him out of the misery that's starting to permeate around the other Lantern he knows one false move could tip Hal over worse. He walks out of medical, spotting Soranik walking in with a stressed look on her face. As the door shuts behind him he glances back.
Hal's burrowed under the covers, curling around unfeeling legs.
