Unsinkable Part 2 â˘Sabriel Titanicâ˘
*Part 1 here*
Sam woke the following morning with his arm slung across a very topless Gabe. A small smile graces his lips as he studies Gabriel, who was still peacefully asleep against Samâs chest. They hadnât gone any further than removing their shirts last night, but Sam still felt like he was in heaven.
âPeople say this is bad, unnatural, but Iâve never felt happier,â Sam thinks, hugging Gabe closer as the shorty stirs.
âMorninâ Samoose,â Gabriel says in a sleep filled, husky voice.
âMorning Gabe,â Sam presses his lips against Gabrielâs temple, causing him to giggle and roll over to face Sam.
âSo, this turned out a lot better than I expected,â Gabriel whispers, gazing into Samâs eyes.
Sam presses a kiss against Gabeâs lips. âOh? How did you think it was going to go?â
âI was scared youâd punch me or something,â Gabriel grinned sheepishly. âYou canât blame me for that though, people frown upon me based on my personality alone, if they knew I liked guys⌠Iâd loose my job.â
Sam kisses Gabriel again, âwell, Iâm glad you risked it.â
The two spent the day hidden in Samâs room, exchanging kisses and talking as the hours blurred by. Eventually Sam leaves for dinner as Gabriel goes down to the workers gallery, grinning ear to ear as he decided there was no better way to spend his day off.
Sam spent the entirety of dinner day dreaming about the life he and Gabriel could have once they reached America.
âMr Winchester? Are you alright?â One of Samâs dinner companions, Crowley MacLeod was watching him curiously.
âOh, Iâm sorry, I was just thinking about what a nice night it is.â
Crowley smiled, their other companions nodding in agreement.
âThat it is,â A girl named Jessica Moore smiled kindly at Sam.
âShould be smooth sailing tonight, and hopefully tomorrow as well,â Crowley added.
âThatâs if you donât worry about the ice berg warnings theyâve had today,â Michael Singer frowned, taking a long sip from his whiskey glass.
Sam almost got distracted again when the whiskey reminded him of Gabrielâs eyes, then another worried voice joined their conversation.
âIce bergs? But this ship is unsinkable, isnât it?â Kevin Tran asked, looking sick.
âOf course, the captain wonât let it even touch an ice berg though, so I donât see why you two are worried,â Crowley said smoothly.
The conversation turned onto other subjects after that, the matter of ice bergs forgotten. Sam just nods along, occasionally speaking when someone spoke to him, but the rest of the time he spent day dreaming about Gabe again.
Finally dinner was finished and Sam excused himself from the group, claiming to feel ill. Rushing back to his quarters, his grin came back as he saw Gabe waiting for him, casually leaning against the wall.
They slipped into the room, locking the door behind them, and sat on the bed.
âWhatâs going to happen when we reach land?â Gabriel suddenly asks, breaking the comfortable silence.
Sam shrugs, âI honestly donât know, do you, do you want to be⌠uh, dammit I donât know, together?â
Gabriel chuckles as Sam stuttered and blush, and Sam glares playfully at him as he replied. âI would love to try this,â Gabriel grins.
They end up lying together, Gabrielâs head on Samâs chest as the taller boy plays with his hair.
Meanwhile, on the top decks of the ship, a look out spotted a looming mass in the gathering haze, and Balthazar Novak hurried to pick up the telephone to warn the bridge, ringing the warning bell as he did so.
Sam and Gabriel heard some sort of commotion, but were too caught up in each other to take much notice.
It was an hour later, Sam was happily kissing Gabriel when the ship pitched dramatically.
The two shot upright, eyes wide as they clutched each other.
âWhat was that?â Sam asked, pulling Gabriel closer as shouts filled the halls, the ship jolting again.
âI donât know,â Gabe said distractedly, clinging to Sam.
They grab their shirts and tug them back on, running out into the corridor to see what was happening.
âEveryone to the lifeboats! Woman and child board first!-â
Sam didnât hear the rest of the words that the sailor was shouting, the people rushing around them chaotically were too loud.
âGabe-â Sam grabbed the shorter boy and pulled him closer.
âDonât lose me in the crowds,â Gabe said fearfully, holding Samâs hand tightly.
Even in the chaos, some people shot them looks, but for the most part they were ignored as people ran for the safety of the life boats.
âL-lets go,â Sam pulled Gabe, struggling through the crowd.
The stairs were blocked, people were making it up, but very slowly.
Sam pushed and pushed, but they were still stuck near the bottom nearly an hour later. This was because crowds from upper levels had pushed in and everyone one was trying to get out of the lower levels. So when water first started seeping in, panic began washing through the crowd, driving people to act even more reckless as they surged up like wild animals, now ignoring the poor worker who had been trying to make people file out in a calm and ordered fashion. This was all it took for the crowded line to start moving.
Sam keeps a tight grip on Gabrielâs hand as they moved, wet shoes squeaking against the hard floors.
âSammy! We can take the workers short cut,â Gabe shouts, tugging Sam along as they reach the next floor.
The ship pitched up again, sending people around them sprawling as they fought against the flow of this floorâs habitants.
Gabriel leads him through a door and they start running down the narrower corridor even as water began sloshing at their feet.
Dashing up another set of stairs, it wasnât long before they reached the decks. Here, it was even more chaotic than downstairs, and Sam noticed Gabriel was scanning the crowds, as if looking for someone.
âGabe, who is it?â
âMy brother! Balthy, he works on the ship too,â Gabe had tears in his eyes.
âWeâll find him,â Sam promised, kissing Gabrielâs cheek and leading him away from the life boats that the woman and children were frantically climbing into.
They run across the deck, yelling Balthazarâs name as loud as they could.
âBalthy? Has anyone seen my brother Balthazar!?â
âHe went downstairs looking for you,â a passing sailor calls out as he rushes to help people onto the life boats.
Sam was distracted momentarily, in a blind moment where all he could see was a lifeboat that only had half the people it could hold being launched. He was temporarily angered by this, which lead to him going to run over and stop them from launching more prematurely. Then he realised in his distraction he hadnât notice Gabe slip is hand free, and now the golden haired man was nowhere to be seen.
âGabriel!?â Samâs heart missed several beats as he spun around, scanning the busy area. âGabe?â
