The Smell of Coffee || Atlas and Blythe
Here he was, with the short end of the stick yet again. The only job worse than coffee boy was if he'd been stuck with bedpan duty, and Blythe praised every deity known to man that at least he'd been spared from that. The downside of the Java Hut being the most popular cafe in the area was that his coworkers wanted him to trek in LA traffic to get it, while still returning before the coffee had cooled. Once or twice he'd needed to cheat, popping the beverages in the microwave before handing them over.
The upside of coming to the Java Hut, was that his brother was the owner, and that meant Blythe got a killer discount. It also meant that he usually didn't have to wait in lines, though her preferred to wait his turn when he could.ย
Today was not one of those days though, because he'd managed to pick a moment where there was no line to be seen. However, the barista looked like he was having a hard time fighting with the espresso machine, so Blythe dared to push through the swinging doors that partitioned off the counter space from the seating area. Of course the barista was going to look at him oddly, he was seemingly a random customer coming behind the counter. Blythe didn't recognize the man and assumed he was new.
"Hey, I'm Blythe...Jason's brother. He's cool with me getting my own orders when people are busy. I won't break anything, I swear, I worked here part time during college."
