the best way i can describe how s8 did shiro and his relationship with keith dirty is to compare it to the little mermaid.Â
youâve got shiro for 8 seasons wanting to go to space, to have adventures in space. his ex dumps him for wanting adventure in space more than him. his most important relationship is with keith (whether you see it as platonic or romantic, there is no denying this). then his epilogue does a 180 and has him retiring from the battle (which one? the war is over? what does this mean?) and settling with a husband weâve never seen him talk to, and we also never see him talk to keith either ever again.
youâve got ariel loving everything about humans, to the point where she betrays her fatherâs wishes in order to become human. we see her build up a relationship with eric over the course of the movie. now imagine that if after they defeat ursula, ariel returns to the sea and marries a random background merman who weâve never seen her speak to, the epilogue leaves it vague if she even ever did anything with human stuff anymore (previously her biggest passion and drive), and she is never seen interacting with eric in the last third of the movie.Â
youâd be at least mildly confused by these writing decisions.Â
and then some people say youâre just salty that your eric/ariel ship wasnât canon
can people stop with the âpeople are turning K into a nice guy who thinks he deserves S for saving him, but after everything Sâs feelings could be unrequitedâ. iâve had to see 3 of these already just today.
theyâre fictional characters, they donât have feelings, S canât have or not have unrequited feelings for K cuz he has not feelings. these are all decisions made by staff and exces. people saying S âshouldâ have been with K instead of [man] mean it from a writing and emotional stand point. last minute romances are always terrible and we have nothing to be invested in besides âitâs repâ. ofc people are going to say it should have been the relationship that actual got screen time and theyâve been invested in for 2,5 years
this isnât even close to real life nice guys thinking women owe them sex cuz they were nice, or the male protagonists constantly being rewarded with âthe girlâ at the end, so donât confuse that with queer people wanting to see a queer love story unfold and be confirmed on screen and not get some last minute token rep
