Eridan’s the one who started this conversation, but he cannot get to the point. Whatever he’s trying to bring up must be rather awkward to discuss - and since he seems burnt out on their moirallegiance, my guess is that he’s trying to end it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the whole point of a moirallegiance is to curb your partner’s violent tendencies. 

Feferi isn’t supposed to support Eridan’s little hobby of genocide, which is what I assume he’s referring to. If he can’t accept that, he won’t be able to participate in a moirallegiance at all - which I think is the whole point of this conversation.

That’s a pretty charitable way to interpret his character - and one that might well be true, if Feferi’s correct about his long list of failures. It’s unlikely that would happen by chance, unless you happen to be a cartoon villain on a kids’ show. 

Another possibility is that he’s exaggerating his genocidal tendencies in order to attract a moirail. If potential violence is all it takes to activate the pale instinct, then I’m sure there are plenty of trolls who pretend they’re more violent then they are, just to get that quadrant filled.

Feferi, the leader of the ‘hostile’ sea-dwellers, seems completely benevolent. This is very odd indeed, and I have to wonder what her peers think of her plans for reform. 

It’s funny - when I first heard the name Cuttlefish Culler, I expected a particularly violent and intimidating troll, since I assumed that a culler must be violent. Turns out my assumption was correct - for every troll except Feferi. 

You would also look forward to using your reign to UNITE THE TWO RACES. You were told you would do this one day by your lusus, even if it does contradict her message of extinction. Oh well, you suppose NOT ALL PROPHECIES CAN COME TRUE.

Her lusus, of course, neglected to mention that it was talking about an entirely different species. 

Feferi is the highest-ranking troll in the Medium, so it’s possible that ‘legally’, she’s their acting ruler. In a way, it makes sense that she’d be the one to officially extend the olive branch to the humans. 

It has been many years since we've had the pleasure of your company back East, but trust you are still well thought of.

On that note, this letter is intended for your eyes only. I have no doubt that my lovely assistant has delivered it unharried and with the utmost charm and warmth that makes her such a pleasure to keep company with.

As you are no doubt aware, the past several years have been quite challenging for Mother. The recent squabbles with neighbors in the North were quite upsetting. I tell you this, Nerikk- the treehouse was nearly lost. Even in a backwater stretch of our lands, Marshal’s incompetence nearly ended up in disaster. He has been recalled to speak with Mother where hopefully he can be finally dealt with.

Unfortunately, mother’s wisdom and clarity on these situations has become compromised. Her frailty is greater than her strength. We suspect she will not survive the winter.

After speaking with DV and MF, it is our thought that change has become necessary. As one of the leaders of this family, your opinions and experience are highly valued. Indeed, perhaps it is time you took more of a role in the way the family is handled?
