So many plots that couldn't have been switched tbh. But yeah, I defintely agree that they couldn't have made Sam loose his memory, because
1- Dean would have never been on top of it like Sam. There would have been no notes to explain what is what or anything like it.
2- yeah, they wouldn't have been allowed to show what Dean would have convinced Sam of otherwise. Idk if he would convince Sam that they're boxfriends but he would definitely convince him that they're fucking and they should make just try and revive Sam's memories by fucking again and again. He'd probably also convince Sam that he always gives Dean a good morning and good night blowjob and that he shouldn't stop now just because he can't remember.
And so many more options :))
