So first, get one light cap and one dark cap. I'm using these two:

After I sharpen and colour them, they look like this:

If you're wondering how I coloured it, I increased the brightness, increased the contrast, added a black and white gradient map on 50% opacity and then decreased the vibrance.

After that, go to your white cap and duplicate the cap and set it to screen. Apply a gaussian blur of 15px. Add a layer mask (the third icon from the left at the bottom of the layers panel) and mask out (using a black brush) the person in the cap so that the background's brighter. My cap and layers panel look like this:

You're gonna do the same thing for the dark cap, but instead of setting the layer to screen, you're gonna use multiply.

When you're done editing both caps, hit alt+control+shift+e and that will kind of screencap your edit so you don't have to merge all of the layers. Open up a new doc and copy both of the caps there and you can either leave them like that or add a few textures and adjust a few things. I'm gonna use this texture.
