Ryugene and Alcohol
Interesting thing about Ryung's "Hypocrite. It's exactly what you do, isn't it?" in relation to drinking to deal with things is that in this scene it technically refers to drinking in a very specific situation, revenge. That's why Eugene calls Icarus about Shinzen, because that was his target, he thought he'd achieved it, and yet it didn't help with the loss.
But here's the thing, as much as Eugene has many reasons to drink, and this was certainly one of them, the time we see him drink for the first time, straight from the fucking bottle, might I add, was when he told Ryung to pretend they hadn't met before. Alcohol was his way of dealing with the fact they couldn't be together.
And after the revenge conversation he gets rid of the alcohol. Yes, on a literal level so that Ryung doesn't drink his problems away, but on a storytelling one it can also be seen as him actually trying to do something. Not just brushing their relationship under the rug, at least allowing himself to process his feelings instead of drinking them away.
This moment was a "I should live more for myself" for both of them, not just Ryung (who becomes much more proactive about their relationship from this point on)
