That was all there was to it. Nothing else mattered, really; the lack of food and water was only what added more to the challenge, the tattered clothes and the countless scars beginning to form were only memories that would disappear sooner or later—if he could just get through one day after the other, then it would be alright.

But at the moment, surviving was an idea. It wasn’t going well for him, considering the fact that his feet were getting sore, those once smooth movements getting sloppier, the frequency of stumbles increasing. This wasn’t new, really; but it was the first—maybe second, if he really had to think about it—that a chase had lasted so long. A few items here and there, suddenly gone missing—and who could you blame to save your own skin? Right—that one kid who was so unfortunate to have been in the same area, looking desperate enough to resorting to thievery.

What a shame it was actually him—but hey, they didn’t need to know that.

Sharp turns and a brief halt right by the corner, the young child had to catch his breath lest the wheezing would start. A quick glance at the leg that was lucky enough to only be grazed by a bullet, a sigh escaped his lips. With a few days’ worth of food and the sound of brainless brutes giving up, his form relaxed ever so slightly before trekking onward, taking a bit of the reward for himself.
