hii joonie i wanted to ask if you have any tips on characterisation bc i always love yours ☝️
ahh i’m so bad at giving tips but i want to help so i’ll try my best
umm so when i’m just living or watching tv or listening to music, i pick up on certain aspects that i think might go with a specific character. from there i can build up the scenario and explore how that character might go about it.
when you’re reading other peoples work, take note of little behaviors of the character that you agree and disagree with. heavy on the disagree part bc that kinda allows you to think “i can see them doing this instead.”
i try to work with canon personalities but don’t let every little detail tie me down. while it is the basis of the character, you can totally add more according to what you see fit.
i feel like it’s pretty hard to get someone’s characterization blatantly wrong, so honestly i’d say have as much fun with it as you can. your version of the character doesn’t need to be like everyone else’s and as long as it’s not wildly out of character, your version is as “right” as anyone else’s
