It was late morning when N finally woke, which was odd unto itself. But there was also an earthy brightness to the air, even in the depths of the ruined castle. All those scents that had been frozen away by the winter chill were coming alive again. Though some of them weren't what N would normally consider pleasant, their sudden presence was, on a whole, invigorating.
When he ventured out to the open air, the sun was bold and bright and the air warmer than it had been in months. Snow melted to water and drizzled down over the mouth of the cave, leaving dirty puddles and lines of sand and piles of mud in its wake. It was beautiful.
Maybe it would snow again tomorrow. Maybe the temperature would drop below zero next week. But for now--
"Reshiram! Spring!"
