Awake again. // Maze Runner AU
The rustling of chains, the scrapping of metal. Soft thunder and shaking of the floor bellow him. That's all he could feel, all he could hear. Darkness pressed on his eyelids even as they were opened, and he blinked, felt around, gripped at the iron floor beneath him.
Complete, utter fear, paranoia, claustrophobia, all at once, and he was tensing up, body suddenly rolling up in a ball, mind overloading with sensations. He remembered it all, the things, every day things from his life, from the world. All was there, clear and bright, with missing faces and hollow sensations, and he was suddenly aware he couldn't remember it at all, yet he remembered it all.
The floor stopped shaking just as he let out a first hoarse cry, his thoat hurting, as if dried out of any water. He tried again, and it came out just as raw.
And then, the doors above him opened, and just like that, light shone down on him. His eyes blinked, squirmed, and then closed fully because the onslaught of senses overloaded, and he suddenly, with no explanation, found himself on his side, not knowing when he toppled over, and bile was rising up his throat as he emptied his stomach.
Eyes were staring down at him. Dozens of eyes.
