Sign Class: Gold

Gold Signs are the reigning geniuses of the sign class spectrum, and chances are they know it. Witty and widely read, they enjoy conversation and debate, even when that conversation gets a little one-sided. They can come off as preachy, and they have a tendency to railroad, just driving into their interlocutors with the force of their intellect. Their arguments make perfect sense to themselves, but not always to those around them. Gold Signs are interested in a wide variety of topics, so they tend to be Jacks-of-all-trade, and can have trouble dedicating themselves to just a single hobby or career. They have a tendency to be high-energy, and can stress people out, including themselves. Their anxiety is such that they often need quite a bit of time alone with their projects. They can talk circles around most people, and they aren't afraid to use their intelligence to manipulate others to get what they want. They are good at making money, and also good at spending it. They aren't great financial planners, tending toward impulse purchases. In romance they lean toward partners who can keep up with them, both with their intellect and their energy, which can both be hard to match.

(So anyway my homestuck AU Lina is a Knight of Space (ngl it was a tossup between space and breeze but I decided on space b/c colors be damned it just matched her personality/combat style better). And I know what you’re thinking - “but the space player and the knight have a trend of doing the frogs together!” oh ho that’s the key ain’t it? Frog time came around and she was trying to do everything herself and she swore she could handle it right b/c she always does but she couldn’t and everybody could see that so who shows up to help except the Bard of Mind himself our dear Director (and yes please imagine Director Leonard Church in the (supposed) Bard outfit b/c–), who obviously took that and made a big giant mess of it.)

(In the verse Sam and I had set up ‘Church’ was actually a failed piece of their Galaxy Frog that our dear Bard managed to fuck up when attempting to use it make the perfect player (aka Tex) to beat the game for them, but without a galaxy frog, they doomed their session, and escaped into the largest part of said frog - the part that created the universe the Sim Troopers lived in. Of course, freelancer shenanigans, blah blah etc etc, but– it was a whole thing. I mean, obviously, in the case of actually RPing it, certain ideas would be prone to change, but that was the framework I had set up at least.)

(I… Have more, but. There’s only so much I can say at once. Oh yeah, and Lina’s land is the Land of Frogs and Music. Since Frogs seems to be kind of a necessity for a space player.)

Rogues have problems coping with their Aspect or the lack of it, thinking they don’t have it in them or that they can’t handle it, causing them to give it up too easily. They challenge is to come to terms with their Aspect and own it.

Well ok cool, I guess I get that. What was the Blood Aspect again?

Those bound to the aspect of Blood draw their strength from bonds, from the trust and camaraderie that blooms among a group of people who all share a single vision

Oh.

So, a rogue would struggle with this because

Their friends and families split up and pulled them in different directions and they couldn’t choose because they felt neither side was really loyal to them. They felt they weren’t really needed, no one depended on them for anything, no one committed to them, no one was truly connected to them. Everyone went their own way with no thought that they might be dependent on them. This made them give up committing to others or being dependent on others, because it’s always failed or never worked out for them, so they stop trying.

This give them serious commitment issues, making them wary of uniting and being loyal to others.

They gave up on having real connections in general. Their challenge though as Rogues is to learn to take their Aspect for themselves. A Rogue of Blood needs to learn to not just give commitment, but to expect it back.

They need to learn to get stability in their lives, to handle bonds and loyalty and relationships.

I talked to my old friend for this she enjoys personality tests a lot and back when homestuck was in vogue, she had the more analytical mind for classpect shit than me. 

We ended up torn between prince and bard, actually, since we agreed the personalities in canon could both be bent to parallel locus, but after i explained my interpretation of Locus’ arc in season 13 she attributed it to a bard-thing. 

The way we agreed it, bards don’t display their aspect until a crisis of personality forces them to adopt it (eg., Locus acting like he feels nothing until season 13 rolls around and we find out he’s actually really hurting, and we start to see more of his true self.)
