It took a bit for us to finally settle into a pattern. No one was happy with the arrangement, but we were surviving. Besides we were all very aware that Summer was coming and with it Orion and no one was sure what that would mean.

Oddly enough Paris’ dog was the bright spot. Wolfbane had been trained to help people with anxiety and medical issues so he was watching after me and would regularly get in between me and the others - not that the kids realized that’s what he was doing. It’s quite hilarious to think that the island guardian is protecting me. I’m pretty sure he finds it irritating. Or maybe he’s protecting them from me? One of these days that dog and I are going to have to sit down and have a long talk .

To be honest O and Callie were the problem. Despite what they said they were having a very hard time adjusting to me being different. They wanted their Rusty and I wasn’t him. I didn’t want to cuddle or even sleep in the same room. I… I didn’t fall immediately back in love. I still loved them, but it wasn’t the way I did when I was a teenager - not yet at least. Callie kept trying to do things like when we were teens and then she’d realize it was stressing me out and stop. O on the other hand was endlessly frustrated with the fact that I jumped when he touched me. He felt like I wasn’t trying, but he didn’t understand that existing in that house was taking all my willpower. We fought quite a bit, but never in front of the kids. I wasn’t going to do that to them.

Things did not go smoothly. The kids were not the problem. Well, Luna and Missy loved me, but Lorelei was having a bit more trouble adjusting to someone else’s father coming back from the dead than either O or Callie wanted to admit.
