I'm going to do my best to not include any legit spoilers. All I want to talk about is what was missing from this film and then just my general feelings on the movie. If you don't already know, #TheBlairWitchProject was the only horror film in my life to genuinely scare me. I was terrified when I saw it in movie theaters and I hid behind my hands through out most of the movie. So, with this sequel, you can imagine how, with me now being an adult, excited I was for this. The trailer looked amazing, old scared memories were literally pouring out of me. To be honest, the movie wasn't all that bad. It was obviously wayyyy different than the original film and I can see why people didn't like it. But, I had a great time. What I didn't like was that the film was obviously scripted. What made the original film so brilliant was that it was all improvised, which as an actor is very impressive. I also hate that we didn't visit #CoffinRock, however it was mentioned. I did love the multiple references of #RustinParr, though. I am by far more obsessed and interested in the Rustin Parr story than the #BlairWitch story. There were some space and time inconsistencies that I didn't really understand. It took away from the realism for me and just seemed completely unnecessary. I was also disappointed that #HeatherDonahue made no appearance. I was really looking forward to that. It didn't have the same atmospheric heart that the original film had. Modern technology can really just take you out of a scary moment and/or lack scary moments in general. But if you can take a step back and see the film as it's own movie, you might be able to enjoy it a little better. With all of that said... I really did enjoy the movie and I can not wait to see it again.
