Nope no need to be more specific! This is a rustic sphinx moth and they are found pretty much across the whole southern US and down into Mexico, Central America, and South America.

All three were found in [removed] (can you redact that please?) and I'm like 75% sure the second one is a cicada? But idk 💀 all three were frickin huge tho and were safely moved away from our house!
Big pals! The first is a rabid wolf spider, the second is the aptly-named superb dog-day cicada, and the third is a rustic sphinx moth :)

Lol how convenient for them that their bark/lichen camouflage also works on parking lots! No predators will eat them but they may get stepped upon... :(

These are some large and beautiful pals! The first two moths are sphinxes which are quite large for moths, but the last one is a black witch, which is the biggest noctuid in the US! Large females can have wingspans of 9 inches. Very impressive. Love all these friends, thanks for sharing!
Found these HUGE FRIENDS in the parking lot at work while doing my rounds the other day. Found in NE Texas. I see the green ones all the time but I’ve never seen the black and white one before. They were so big! So much of them to love! Coworker and I left them undisturbed to do their resting, just taking pictures as best we could and fawning over them. They both stayed in the same spot for well over 3 hours just enjoying the parking lot ambiance.
HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL!! Not surprised they didn't move, moths spend most of their time resting. The one on the left is a rustic sphinx and the other is a luna moth :)
