I was told that matryoshka dolls were actually created in Japan, though when I looked into it, it seemed like the Japanese nesting doll in Japan is what inspired the creation of matryoshka dolls in Russia.

With this, I thought of a simple story for Kiku and Ivan (.◜◡◝)

✿ Kiku had gifted Ivan nesting dolls, and Ivan therefore felt inspired to create his own, which is the matryoshka doll.

For the little comic I made however, I was thinking Kiku gifted Ivan a kokeshi doll this time, and Ivan put it on a shelf along with a single matryoshka doll.. These two dolls had come alive!
