It isn’t often that Fleur lets down his guard in other universes;   it’s too dangerous, it’s too risky---   he’s all about risks, don’t get him wrong, but there are some risks he’s far too unwilling to take!  Specifically, risks involving allowing people to see the side of him that isn’t strong.  Allowing people to see the side of him that isn’t powerful, that isn’t chaotic, that isn’t wild.  Allowing people to see the side of him that’s merely a child, that’s just trying to find a place where he belongs, that’s just trying to figure out what he’s supposed to be doing with his life because he doesn’t know.

Yet... when he found out about what the Bureau went through on their century long mission, his heart broke for them.  He knows what it’s like to cycle through endless of the same, cycles of new experiences but they never truly... changed, in the end.  He understands.  And he wishes they didn’t share the sentiment.

So he simply finds the only person he’s gotten inherently close to within the crew------   Magnus Burnsides.

Don’t think about Magnus realizing Fleur knows more about him than he knows about Fleur.

Don’t think about Fleur saying he’s not all that impressive compared to Magnus.

the young magi stares incessantly, cheeks flushed and eye blown wide in wonder. it was fair to say she was not expecting HIM to come to her unassuming village. yet there he stood. THE magnus burnsides; heroic champion of ‘the day of story and song’; idol to many and protector of all;  ‘rail splitter’ in tow and just as majestic as she had imagined! ...not that she spent a lot of her time fantasising about magnus’ heroic feats! just a reasonable amount of time! OH, perhaps she should raise his awareness, bring his eyes to her - wave fine china hand at him and declare in as brave a voice she can; ‘YOU’RE AN INSPIRATION TO ME!  I WANT TO DO AS MUCH GOOD AS YOU SOME DAY!’ she truly did find a new hero in his story. to fight for others? keep them safe above all else? how... beautifully poetic. and above all ADMIRABLE. she goes to voice growing admirations and...
