Youâre so right my god. During the hawks-twice thing ppl were bringing up police violence in real life America and blm and itâs like??? This is real life where things are real and that is a shounen manga, set in not real JAPAN what are you doing?? And ppl just getting so angry over their own misinterpretation is one of my biggest issues in this fandom, I love meta and analysis but when a decent chunk of the fandom are so heavy into their headcanons and Aus when writing their meta, stuff on the actual text is so hard to find. Like Iâm all for headcanons and stuff but whens thereâs a such a big difference between what you want and what the manga is giving you, maybe this manga just isnât for you?? Stop harassing ppl who donât agree with you like theyâre morally evil for it??
Iâve always avoided talking about these things because I just know no matter what i say, someone, somewhere, is gonna get mad, but I need to grow a spine.
Yeah there are parallels to real life issues like that in mha, such as how certain quirks get discriminated against, but comparing the incessant murder of innocent black people at the hands of police to the heroes trying to stop a terrorist group isâŠa choice.
Because i think what some people lose sight of is that, even if the LOV suffered a lot in their lives and theyâre our little meow meowsâŠtheyâre stillâŠliteral terroristsâŠ
Hori even took the time to show us the absolute chaos of the aftermath of the first war.
If people say that this is in anyway comparable to black people just living their lives and getting killed, then i really donât know what else i can tell you.
Twice certainly got the short end of the stick in all this, because him and Spinner are the ones who had the least bad intentions in all this imo. Twice was mentally ill and all he wanted was to belong and help, and I wish he wouldâve lived. But at the same time, i also have to admit that if had unleashed his quirk, everything would be much worse, and his personal struggles donât give him a pass to just kill so many people.
People blaming Hawks is kinda funny because itâs very clearly just biased, but i know my opinion will also seem biased as a Hawks stan lmao
Hawks was certainly being tone deaf with the way he was talking to Twice, but he didnât want to kill him. If that were the case, he wouldnât have spent all that precious time talking with him to try and get him to stand down. He wouldâve just went in, killed him before Twice even knew he was being betrayed, and done.
I still love the LOV, because this is all just a story and i know LOV stans arenât terrorists because thatâd just beâŠincredibly stupid of me to think. People donât need to like the heros, because they also arenât without fault - nobody is, in this story - thatâs the point.
I understand that these characters mean a lot to people and it must really suck having them be in a losing position from the get go because theyâre the bad guys, I just wish people wouldnât take that love to an unhealthy degree, because even if they donât think so, fighting with people online and being so negative about a story is NOT good for your mental health.
With the headcanon thing, itâs a bit funnier. I remember seeing people get mad that Hawks didnât turn into a villain, even though that was dispelled not long after the whole double agent thing was introduced, or some people say the writing is bad because Hori didnât make Hawks and Dabi childhood friends which is just so funny to me because likeâŠsis, YOU made that up. People spend so much time in their fandom bubble that they completely forget what actually happened in the story, which is fine, but donât go around saying the writing is bad just because your headcanons conjured out of flimsy tidbits didnât come true.
I just like when people are objective as possible when it comes to analysing the manga and its writing, and give a fair shot to both heroes and villains, despite who they might prefer, you know?
I never share my opinions on anything because idk people probably donât care but I gotta scream into the void for a sec.
I follow a really small handful of people on all my social medias which gets kind of slow, content wise, but whenever I try to find more people to follow in the mha fandom, Iâm just met with the most vapid, insane, absolutely no critical thinking, brain-rotting takes Iâve ever heard in my fucking life and itâs just ???
People are really out here fighting each other and making accusations about real people over their fictional scrumblos, and i know âyeah Rubi welcome to the internetâ but i donât think Iâve seen something to this degree.
I just want to see some art of my scrunklies, my little scrimblos, without having to read posts that sear the top layer of my brain.
Iâm not even talking about headcanons or different interpretations or anything like that, those are fun. But itâs just confusing when people are critiquing the actual source material based on their half-assed takes built on an echo chamber of biased people and then get mad at the writing because it doesnât follow their made up version of the events. Like, girl, we did NOT read the same manga because where the fuck did you ever see that character ever do something like that ever.
And it wouldnât really be that bad if people didnât take these characters and events in the manga like actual real world life and death scenarios that are happening as we speak. You donât need to be legitimately fighting with other people and jeopardizing your mental well being because you think that the heroes are real people or that the villains are real people. I know some of the themes hit close to home, but i feel like having real fights with real people over these stories is just creating needless frustration in these peopleâs own lives and for what?
So yeah, then i just have to follow the 3 people who post art that donât take this series like actual real world events, and so my feed is really empty at times : â )
