The air seemed to leave her lungs as she stood in the door of her apartment staring at two faces that she was sure that she would never see again. The man and woman had small differences from the last time she saw them - both of them obviously aged, and the womanâs hair was shorter than she remembered - but it was them.
Ruriâs parents.
After disappearing for 10 years, they decided to come back.
The woman - her mother, Sayaka - spoke first breaking the awkward silence with a feeble smile.
"RuriâŠ" She started, stepping forward. âYouâve grown so much⊠Your beautiful. Me and your father has missed you so muchâŠ"
Black eyes hardened into a glare, her body tense. Ruri didnât move toward them and neither did she move away. Her emotions were a whirlwind, divided between crying out in happiness and shutting the door in thier faces. She wiped her face roughly, the palm of her hand rubbing against her mouth roughly, the young firebender looking away angrily.
"⊠Missed me?" She questioned, voice quivering in anger. âMissed me? Really? After you left me on my own, in order to fend for myself when I was fucking seven. After Iâve spent 10 years thinking - hoping - that you guys were dead. Hoping that something might of happened to you, just so I wouldnât feel like you abandoned me. But⊠Guess fucking what? Turns out you did."
"No, you donât-"
"DONâT tell me I donât understand!"Ruriâs body started to retreat into her apartment. âDonât⊠just donât⊠I donât need half assed excuses as to why you decided that you just didnât want me anymore, and then decided that âHey, maybe we can go back and be parents since she was able to survive!" DOnât⊠Just donât give me that bullshitâŠ"
With that, she turned back into the apartment, all but slamming the door in their faces with as much force as she could summon.

Headcanon
Ruri hates water. She can bathe and everything just fine, but she WILL NOT go into pool or the ocean. She doesn't like how weightless it makes her feel. And since it's the opposite of her element, it leaves her feeling a little helpless as well, since she won't be able to properly defend herself while in water.
Assumption: Ruri may had an unsteady temper, but finds calligraphy a calming hobby.
