Wells found a sunflower field and immediately misunderstood the assignment.

Most people see sunflowers and think: peaceful countryside, summer air, cute photos, maybe a wholesome little walk between the rows.

Wells saw them and thought: stage lighting.

So there he was, shirtless in denim cutoffs and boots, standing in the middle of all that yellow like the field had been planted specifically to match his brand.

Which, according to Wells, was “basically agriculture with better marketing.”

The sun was setting.

The barn was glowing.

The flowers were behaving.

Wells was not.

He stepped through the rows with one hand brushing the blooms and the other resting near his belt, wearing the kind of smirk that said he absolutely knew the difference between “rustic charm” and “rural menace.”

And he chose menace.

“Bro,” Wells said to one of the sunflowers, “you get it. Always face the light. Very Golden Army of you.”

The sunflower did not respond.

Wells nodded anyway.

“Strong silent type. Respect.”

The sunflowers kept turning toward the light.

Understandable.

Wells was doing the same thing, technically. Just with more abs and worse intentions.

By the time he looked back over his shoulder, holding one sunflower like an apology he had no intention of meaning, the entire field had lost its claim to innocence.

Because apparently standing there looking illegal in a farm-adjacent way was not enough.

Wells dropped into the grass, stretched out between the flowers, boots dusty, skin shining, denim working overtime, looking like late summer had been personally recruited into the Golden Army.

No gym.

No locker room.

Just sunflowers, sunset, and Wells proving that country boys do not need much equipment.

A field.

A belt buckle.

A bad idea.

That was plenty.

Somewhere in the distance, the barn stayed silent.

Smart barn.

It knew better than to get involved.
