_Today I had my first ever Running Marathon, a 5km in length which been a charity event organized by Run Yerevan in cooperation with Armenian Mothers NGO aimed at raising funds to help children with with cerebral palsy. Their goal is to raise not less than 2,000,000 of Armenian Drams (at least $5,000) in __contributions to support not fewer than 10 concrete children, many of whom will take part in the event, in the following areas: acquisition of special orthopedic footwear, papoose boards, braces, casts for orthopedic correction, acquisition of new wheelchairs and walkers. _

So, besides being my first Marathon, it was an event possessing the mission of helping children needing it.
Well, what comes to my actual running I can estimate it like average, not good, not so bad also. It was the first time I ran out, not on a treadmill in a Gym. Unlike on treadmill, it is quite challenging to run outside on rocky roads and people next to you and in your way, in the sun which has burnt my face a little bit. As on treadmill, my longest run was 16km in one hour and a half. I usually run not more than 40-50 minutes each time. And, now I assume I can ran max. 10 km outside, not more. That’s my limit at the moment. I’m not a runner, I’m more into power lifting, although I run 2-3 times a week. I can not say I’m content with my results today, I could have run more if I trained and ate and slept properly. My breathing did not betray me, I was keeping up but may be I was not strong enough to run both fast and a long distance without resting in between.Â
There were three of  us, the runners; Nina, Sams and me. When the Marathon started out we lost Nina from the very beginning, she disappeared halfway  in the crowd. I was like, “OK, next time we’ll see her at the Finish waiting for us”. So, Sams and me ran keeping together and walking in between running. Off-top, it was very motivating to see people running; some where running with their children, some of them were professional runners, some of them were just having fun.  It took us a while until we ran into Nina on our way and reached the Finish all-together.
Anyway, we did good, we came right after the best group of  runners reached the finish.
Then, we also had a show performed by Street Workout team Armenia, They are just awesome. You should check their vids here;Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlhdvsnXeSYÂ .
So, I can wholeheartedly say that we need more of these days and longer Marathons. I know there is another Half-Marathon scheduled to October the 4th in Yerevan. I will do my best to run all 21.1 km in a row.
Sincerely yours,
Nelly.
