Tired legs, open heart, blue sky, feeling alive
A few weeks ago, I never thought that I would be able to run 10 miles all at once, but I did it this past Saturday and feel confident that I can do it again. Many people don’t realize that running is as much a mental sport as it is physical. We often underestimate our own potential and the strength of our body, especially when we’re tired. I never understood what the phrase “mind over matter” meant until I started focusing on my running and overall physical health. Our mind and body can handle a lot more than we give it credit for. Once you stop telling yourself “I can’t” and replace it with “I can”, you’ll realize that you can accomplish so much more with a positive strength based mindset. Running with a friend (preferably your best one🤠) is the easiest way to get over the mental block and tell the voice inside your head that you are good enough and strong enough to go the extra mile.
I ran 6 miles for the first time in years yesterday! I started off the run just wanting to go 2 miles, then thought “why not 4?” Then when I got to 4, I thought “why not 6?” So I went 6 and my legs felt so strong and I didn’t expect myself to be able to run this many miles for at least a few more weeks so I’m super proud of myself

Matching and ran 4 miles at 8:00/mile pace today! I haven’t ran more than ~2 miles in a while since all my runs have been rushed every morning before work and I feel super accomplished 🤗 I started off my run not knowing how far I would go and also forced myself to start off slower so I wouldn’t be so tired after mile 1, and ended up going 4 miles total :)
First run in I don’t even know how long (many weeks?) followed by a quick backyard stretch sesh
My happy place 😌
