Broke 12 minutes on my mile!! Still have to shave off another 58 seconds to get to my goal. But this is 10 seconds faster than my last run, so I’m getting there slowly but surely 😊

Good speed on my mile this morning! I thought I was going for distance this morning but halfway through I thought nah, fuck that, I’m tired. So I guess that resolve powered me through my fastest mile yet.
I’m glad to be back under 14 minutes for my mile. Leg day was yesterday, so hopefully this quick run helps break up all the soreness in my quads.
I do wonder if I could get a faster mile if I wasn’t running like 10 minutes after I rolled out of bed. My times seemed faster when I was running in the afternoon/evening. But now that it’s summer it’s staying 95 until dark, so these groggy morning runs will have to be sufficient.
Slowest mile yet! But I haven’t run in like two weeks and it felt pretty hot and muggy this morning so I’m not mad about it. At least I still did it.
Ran another mile today! I’m proud of myself because I really didn’t want to this morning. My deal with myself is I only need to run on days that I don’t go to the gym (like once or twice a week). But my quads are still really sore from legs on Wednesday and I slept poorly, so I wasn’t feeling today. But I still got it done and it’s my fastest mile so far.

I’m (slowly, quietly, privately) trying to run a mile. I’m embarrassed by the fact that I can’t. I do other forms of cardio (HIIT classes and walking) but I want to be able to run a mile. Even if it’s very slow. But I also don’t want to over exert myself or injure myself because weightlifting is my primary focus. So once a week I’ll take a little jog around my neighborhood to try to build up stamina. And it’s working! I can run over half a mile without stopping. It’s slow, obviously. But it’s nonstop movement. This is my progress from May 18 to yesterday.
Working out has been so good for my mental health. To be able to see the numbers go up and to see real, tangible results has me so pleased. I’m actually really proud of myself. I’m doing difficult things, but I’m pushing through and I keep doing them. It’s hard to explain, but the consistency, progress, and accountability to myself feel really really good.
