wishing the happiest of birthdays to the amazingly talented, funniest soul, and embodiment of a real-life cartoon, bruce campbell! words cannot fully explain my care and admiration towards the man, but i shall try!
truly, there is no one else like bruce, a real gem. what i admire most about bruce is his determination to stay true to himself and create what makes HIM happy… i am always amazed by how unique he is and the fun he has in every project he does. never working with the “hollywood spores” (as he so rightfully calls them) to do whatever the hell he wants! HAHA!
i am sure most of you know that ash is very important to me, but i have deep love for SO many other roles bruce was in since i gain deep enjoyment from watching everything he was in… my personal favorites have to be his roles in the blind waiter (1980), running time (1997), the adventures of brisco county, jr. (1993-1994), acting and reacting (1978), burn notice (2007-2013), and many… many more… (yes, even the hallmark movies!) (i haven’t seen ernie & emma yet but i know it would be high on this list as well! excited!)
it always saddens me when he thinks of himself as “the evil dead guy” and even claims that the title would be on his tombstone. i hope bruce knows how truly loved he is and how much he has inspired SO many people… he truly is so much more than just “the evil dead guy." he’s an actor, a father, a friend, an entertainer, a true stooge, a writer, a director, an author of some truly amazing books, a nerd (although he won’t admit that for the life of him), a guy you want to hire, a true snapchat filter connoisseur, a menace, sam raimi’s favorite hamster, a fandom analysis expert, a “geezer” as he calls it, but most importantly, he’s bruce. and that might be the best thing of all.
happy birthday, bruce campbell! wishing all the pies in the face!
