So it takes place basically in an alternate universe in which our Solar System is connect with a separate star system called the Scela System which is BRIMMING with magic.

The Scela System was inhabited first by ancient ancient ancient fairies who were probably from a separate dimension and also may or may not have created the universe as we (but not we because it isn't our universe) know it.

Anyway the Scela System is full of fancy magic creatures like elves and fairies and dragons and shit, and it's kind of a hub of life in the metaphorical center of the Galaxy. Mostly they're connected with Earth and so Earth is full of magic too! Humans are still the dominant species or whatever but it's not at all uncommon to encounter people who are not entirely or even at all human!

Such as our main character! Ruby Satō is 18, 4'11, part dragon, and full of spite and red bull. Alanon School for Gifted Children is the magic school that they attended and recently graduated from! They weren't the best student, but they are powerful as hell and also have a badass sword. Anyway they also dropped out of college due to having a mental breakdown in their first semester and so now are stuck living in their hometown with their grandmother.

It's kind of making fun of teen fantasy books where kids get put through a shitton of traumatic experiences and stuff like it's normal?

Anyway the actual plot starts when Ruby's estranged older sibling Jasper contacts them for the first time in like two years (haven't spoken since their parents' funerals). Jasper is in the Scela System living with vir two girlfriends as a crime fighting polycule, and they recently uncovered a plot to unleash an ancient evil which could destroy life as they know it. Naturally they realize that they need all of the help that they can get.

Ruby, obviously, tells them to go fuck themselves but does ultimately agree.

The ensuing adventure features a bunch of weirdos whom I love dearly coming together to fuck over a cult that may or may not be a metaphor for capitalism, it's a little unclear what the author is going for.
