He had also suggested that Ruby travels to the Galar region. The professor who lives there, Professor Magnolia, shouldn’t be too far away from Wedgehurst Station, where Ruby has arrived. He was told to visit her and get an upgrade for his PokeDex - and also to greet her properly from Professor Birch. To Ruby, it had sounded like the Professor felt guilty about not staying in touch with the elderly woman.

Luckily, the House of the Professor is easily found on Route 2 and Ruby, impudent as he is, does not hesitate to enter the building.
