the group therapy sessions for team rwby would be fucking crazy
dude ruby goes through so much from v7-9 with very little breaks (she has times where shes not doing anything but majority of those shes probably stressed and/or depressed so they dont count) that the idea she doesnt break down crying at some point that first day in vacuo just sounds fake. and not even like “oh i missed you guys so much im happy to see you again” crying, i mean full on grieving crying. the kind where you cant breathe right, everything is blurred, can barely speak a 1 word answer. and i think her entire team should be there with her to help her through it when it happens
genuinely heartbreaking to watch ruby go “lets go do something in atlas itll be fun” and get shot down by WBY after the mine mission. like i get it from WBY but also.. i know whats happening and going to happen to ruby and its just. ARGH

i ike to think ruby is clearly autistic to everyone else but undiagnosed and has gone down the mental route of “this something uniquely me and a personal flaw i must get over” so hasnt discussed it beyond like the surface level problems with making friends and such she discusses in the first season.
so anyways when weiss decides “i gotta be the best teammate ever” shes smart enough to have picked up rubys autistic traits when it comes to socializing (she hasnt really realized the traits outside socialization related ones but its only been a couple days give her time) and is like “ok. so ruby has autism. to fulfill my best teammate promise i must research how to communicate properly to someone with autism”. she doesnt want to let the others in on this because of pride reasons and eventually the little tweaks in her behavior are second nature. and with all the bullshit, she forgets about researching this on her own and just kind of accepts it as something ruby just is.
so eventually they get to atlas and ruby complains about the bright lights and just how blinding it is. and weiss just goes “oh that makes sense since youre autistic” and rubys like “no im not???”. WBYJNR are all confusedly going “yeah you are???” and just list off her autistic traits. and then ruby has a slight crisis for the next 24 hours
i love v9 bc its like if you took one of those “character suffers for author catharsis” fics and made it canon
i will have to keep an eye out to see if something disproves me but i dont get the fandom characterization of ruby as a bad student/someone whose grades are continuously struggling. sure we see her slack off during their first day of actual class (while beacon clearly is more like a uni/college and ive never gone, i think its safe to say not much is being done on the first day), but we also see jaune literally sleep through a class later in the semester so likeeee
