there's a soft glow on her face  —  the light from the candles in the little cake she baked him lighting the way in the dim bedroom . it wasn't anything fancy  ...  just something small , and simple . it wasn't the only thing she did for him on his birthday however . she'd gotten up early that morning , decorated the living room and the kitchen , made sure his two presents were wrapped nicely and the card was filled out with a lot of words  that only he'd ever see  (  basically it was her pouring her heart out to him  )  . she'd baked the cake the night prior and then hid all of the evidence but she spent some time frosting it this morning so it wouldn't get messed up over night . she wanted his day today to be special  —  and she'd make sure that happen .  "  happy birthday , mi amor .  "  it's a gentle call as she wakes him from his slumber . she very well could have waited until the evening to do all of this , but she'd convinced him to request leave for his birthday so they could spend the day together doing whatever they wanted .  (  she'd also made a reservation at their favorite restaurant out in town  )  some would say it was overboard , but she truthfully just wanted him to enjoy his day . she loved him dearly and she wanted everything to portray that love and admiration for him , to show how much she appreciated him .
