“ i’m trying, john ! ” she’s screaming, but there’s a baby crying and peasants lining up inside the throne room waiting to speak with her. she needs to do something shortly, whether it be to calm the sobbing infant or speak with the subjects- what she can’t do is fight with her husband. “ don’t have time for this discussion right now! ”
John had never been good with noise - not when he was young, and certainly not after he’d witnessed the screams and shouts of the battlefield. It drove him mad and caused him to become incredibly irritable, and the fact that it was his child making the noise didn’t make anything better.
“Either shut the child up, give it to me, or take it away!” John snapped, shouting back at River. It wasn’t just her that had things to do - he had a list of things he needed to take care of - and this damn child was disturbing all of that. Seriously, is this what all kids were like? How the hell did parents manage?
