âThere was nothing for Shuichi to find that was odd, besides the vault clues.â
That... is absolutely untrue. This can be debunked even without going into a big spiel about everything heâs missed in the game, and the cumulative issues of what we donât know about the academy (and its purpose, for that matter...):
Because even Shuichi himself says as much, before his FTE. Though asking for another perspective is all well and good, Kaedeâs own would be insufficient, as she doesnât exactly have a wealth of answers either.
Just because he doesnât follow through in the game - for whatever reason you might rationalise, though distraction is notable in a lot of cases - doesnât mean that there was ânothing there to findâ. Is the whiteboard in Oumaâs room suddenly 'nothingâ just because Shuichi didnât take notice of it? Does Kiiboâs lab have no relevance when he spells out the handy equipment that was there, later on? One would think not, as both of these things are vital to the respective characters.Â
And yet according to Shuichiâs point of view, it was as if neither existed.
The matter is, Shuichi has a ânose for the oddâ in situations, and may indeed find something interesting or strange, often... but he doesnât treat that oddity with an informed or careful regard, time limit or no. Whatâs more, his lack of experience gives him blinders. And as that speaks to the effectiveness of his work in canon, it should be counted as an issue not only with him, but our perception.
