I was often asked what I was doing staring intently at my computer screen. Sometimes they would ask why I would cry at a paragraph I was reading. Then there are moments where people would just go quiet and stare at me when I cried from a dialogue I just read.
Roleplay Writing isn’t exactly in the mainstream media, but it is in the media. If you would wonder why there is a #rp or #roleplaying then it only means one thing, a roleplayer wrote that post.
I won’t get into detail as to what roleplaying means, I’m sure by the word itself you understand what it means. A roleplayer is someone who plays a character, attach the word “writing” and you get someone who plays a character by writing it out, like a point of view type of novel. I’m that kind of roleplayer.
I started out roleplaying in Tumblr.com (weird that I’m explaining it now in a tumblr blog post). It was during my 2nd year in college that I was introduced to it by a friend of mine. My first ever group was, a Harry Potter RP, and I played someone from Gryffindor. It was fun until the group was so big that you’d lose track of what is going on in OOC (it means Out of Character).
After learning a thing or two, I started to join other roleplay groups, one was an All Original Characters RP, where the characters are kids with superhero powers. Then I also joined a grouped that plays characters from Vampire Diaries and The Magic Circle. Then, there is also a group, this time about paranormal creatures, and another group where the Greek gods where reincarnated into a human.
There are other more roleplay groups on Tumblr, and I would like to have listed all of them, but I can’t because it’s just so many. In many of these roleplay groups, I became an admin for about five times. However, like any other who has been in the game too long will look for other things to do and other places to play in.
After three years of roleplaying in Tumblr, I moved to Forum Roleplaying. A close friend of mine pulled me to try it, which at first, I was hesitant, mainly because it was confusing at first. In the end, I got the hang of it, and never moved back to Tumblr roleplaying. I was a staff member of one of the Forum Roleplaying Group for about a year and a few months.
If you would ask me which place is better to roleplay, I would say “that’s a story for another time.” Because as of writing this post, I have been part of four Forum roleplays, active in only one, and I have joined a Discord Based Roleplay Group that is modeled after Fire Emblem and DnD, with expansive lore, great combat model, and well, a lot of things, that I will also tell you about soon-ish.
