The End is Nigh
Well, the end is already here for my RPG365 project since I ran out of games in my collection and in the past couple of days had been busy with life events. But that is okay, I presumed you guys enjoyed what I had done up til then.

RPG365: Amber
I only sat in one session of Amber Diceless Roleplaying back in 92-93 when someone was looking for players for the game. It really didn’t leave an impression on me since the GM was unsure of what to do in some aspects. Maybe, I wasn’t too keen on Diceless rpgs and needed the sound of dice on the table. I really don’t know why I didn’t pick it up then.
It wasn’t until mid 2000 that I had picked it up at a used game table that I started to give it a read through and really enjoy the game for what it had to offer. An inside tour of Roger Zelazny’s The Chronicles of Amber beautiful explored by Eric Wujcik.
RPG365: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks
Expedition to the Barrier Peaks is one of my all time favourite Advanced Dungeons & Dragons module. The first time I played it was in 1980 and we had several characters at high enough levels to go through it. Once we started adventuring it was one hell of a ride and we had lost a few characters along the way.
What made this one memorable for me is that everyone around the table was having the time of their lives and that our GM, Chris Mc wasn’t pulling any punches as well. It was one hell of a science fantasy adventure and was a “bows and arrows against the lightning” kind of feeling.
I lost two characters in the course of the exploration and both went out in a blaze of glory. I just won’t go into details about the levels and what not since I don’t want to spoil the fun for those who hadn’t experienced the delightful joys and the frightful spills this module has to offer.

RPG365: Alternity
Alternity is one of those sci-fi role playing games that slipped through my fingers. I remember playing a session at Cangames in 1999 or 2000 and it was a fun little romp that we had. I played a dashing smuggler with the name of Brash League.
The session took place in a starport of a city and we were waiting for the arrival of our passengers when the terminal erupted in chaos. I really can’t go into details of the scenario at the moment since it was one huge ass fight. With characters running about like chickens with their heads cut off and lasers going off like rain. It was a good little excursions and I enjoyed the session.
What I liked about this systems was that their was a control die and a situation dice. When the GM calls for a roll on an action or skill or whatever the case may be, the player rolls 1 control die and 1 situation die.
Unlike many other systems, actions are determined by a control die and situation dice. When Gamemaster calls for a roll, player rolls 1 control die (which is always a d20) and 1 situation die (which could be a 0, d4, d6, d8, d12 or even another d20) depending on how easy or hard the task at hand was. The situation die is added or subtracted from the control die. Rolling low is always good since it’s a better chance of succeeding.

RPG365: RuneQuest Fantasy Roleplaying Adventure Deluxe
photo liberated from ebay.
I had bought the Deluxe Edition of RuneQuest back in 1984-5 at a hobby shop in Sault Ste Marie. I think the name of the store was “Comes a Tyme” or something like that. This was a good set by Avalon Hill and it had a beautiful map of Fantasy Earth on it, which was a sort of different realm other than Glorantha.
Though, I had misplaced my copy of the box set somewhere and as they say in the movies “dems’ the breaks”. It’s one of those games that if I do pick it up again that I will never ever part with. Though, I do have the basic edition and a few source book materials as well so that I can live with.
RPG365: Buck Rogers Adventure Game
Unlike the earlier XXVc Buck Rogers game -- which threw out most of the traditional BR backstory -- The High Adventure Cliffhangers box set returns back to the pulp roots of Buck Rogers.
I really, really, wanted to get this game when it first came out back in 1993. But the problem was that I had relocated to another town and there was a baby on the way and I had to make some sacrifices on my part. So, it’s one of those things that I let slip through my fingers.
It wasn’t til years later that I gotten my grubby paws on the XXVc Buck Rogers RPG and that eased the pain a little.
RPG365: Ghostbusters RPG
Ghostbusters RPG is a fun little role playing game that is a hoot to play, even if you haven’t seen the movies or the cartoon series players will get a kick out of it.
It’s also one of those games that I regret trading once the game left my hands. At the time another player was a huge fan of the movies and wanted the game so bad. That he made me an offer I couldn’t refused (and I know I should of). But, oh well... live and learn.
