FOR CALEB ( @oflovcrs )
she knocked on the door, hands behind her back, the arms of the sweatshirt held there dragging against the ground. she smiled sheepishly when he opened the door, bringing her arms forward and holding the sweatshirt out like she was serving him a five star meal on a silver platter. “i was cleaning out my closet and found this. i think it’s yours.” she knew for a fact it wasn’t. it was hers, one bought at goodwill a few years ago. ramona had spent the entire night cleaning out her closet, dividing piles into keep, sell, and donate. the music was blasting until her mom barged in and unplugged the speaker. as she sat on the floor, folding her clothes with the quiet of 2 am buzzing around her head, she grew antsy. a plan formulated in her mind – some flimsy excuse to visit caleb because she hadn’t heard from him in a while. “see this red stain right here? it’s from when we stole the wine my mom left out and drank the whole bottle. she grounded me, but i snuck out to meet you at the beach. remember?” that much was true at least.
