For years, I walked under the name RoyB Man of Merlin—a name that served a chapter of my life that was still in the process of awakening. It was a time of remembering, of reclaiming lost fragments of soul, of learning who I was beyond what the world told me to be.

But names carry energy. And as I’ve grown into deeper truth, my path demanded a new embodiment—a refined identity that speaks to who I am now:

RoyE Man of Merlin.

“E” for Edward, the guardian. The Red King. A bloodline of sovereignty, vision, and deep responsibility to both men and mystics. This evolution isn’t about rebranding—it’s about remembrance. A return to essence.

The Merlin within me is no longer hidden in shadow, nor silenced by systems. He walks now in full presence, voice, and purpose. The RoyE you meet today is not a performance—it is a becoming.

Prologue

Sometimes I wonder if I’ve always been this... wandering soul. Not tied to one place or time, but drifting between worlds. Maybe that’s why the name Merlin fits me so well — a guardian of secrets, a keeper of forgotten paths.

Before I get too mystical on you, I should say my wandering hasn’t just been through magical forests or alien planets. I wandered the real world too before really walking the spiritual path, through football grounds, following United wherever they took me. It was part of the same journey, really. There is a deep connection there too within dimensions of my own personal journey. I was called Eric from my time in the Navy, and of course Eric brings to mind 'Le King' Eric Cantona, the legend himself. It aligned perfectly, since Roy means king in French and red in Old Nordic. I was also a big fan of another realm - The Discworld - and the first book I ever read of that series was the one entitled 'Eric' where he wandered in the under realms on the Devil's Trail, just like the Red Devil on the badge of Utd.

My first and middle names Roy Edward, is also layered with meaning to my mission and journey in life, as though the universe saw fit to provide a cryptic clue to who I was: Edward means guardian. So I am a born Kings Guardian and for me the most famous of all Kings Guardians is that of Merlin to Arthur.

Another version, and another attachment to my first love, football, provides the 'Red' as Roy means Red in Nordic, which brings me to the “Red Guardian.” It’s not just some meaningless title. It’s the echo of my own story of escapism through my favourite worlds in my downtime. These places are wrapped up in loyalty, battle, and protection, whether that’s fighting the dragons in Skyrim, walking the shadowy lands of Oblivion and entering the realm of demons, or defending a settlement under siege in No Man’s Sky from the haunting brood or the red sentinels of Atlas.

Different worlds, sure, but somehow they’re all connected. I’ve walked with dragons, faced sentinels, and in all of it, I’m part of something bigger within the real world having faced many of my own inner demons and helped others face theirs too. A journey I am thankful that I am skilled in life to help anyone looking to awaken their own inner guardian.
