"Okay mama, I know.. I'll think about everything, I promise. I-- I know what i'm doin', just give me some time to figure everything out.. This isn't exactly easy, I can't just up and leave with Mark. This is my life, our life now.. Mama please, I told you! ...Look, Mark's callin' me I 'ave to go. I'll call you tomorrow, je t'aime." Quin sighed as she hung up the phone and walked out of her bedroom, walking into the kitchen and putting the phone back on its receiver. She turned towards the family room and watched as Mark playfully sang along with the song playing in the movie on the television. She couldn't help but smile to herself as she watched her little boy, her little bundle of joy, jump around the couch singing along happily to the tune. How could she leave this? She knew she couldn't let Mark grow up in this environment, Roy too unstable and unpredictable but the thought of separating Mark from his father torn her chest into pieces. The girl walked over to the couch and sat down in the far corner, pulling her knees up to her chest, continuing to watch the young boy romp around the coffee table. How many times had Roy come home drunk and threatened to wake Mark up and take him, how many times had Quin come from with Mark when he was younger only to find Roy with drugs in the family room, how many times would Quin find Roy smoking in the kitchen, with Mark sitting right beside him? She was getting tired of his shit but didn't have the guts to tell him what her plans were; the constant conversations with her mother back home in France only helping her decision. 

Quin eventually found herself stretched out across the couch, sleepiness slowly creeping on her while Mark sat by her feet playing with a few toy cars. She shifted slightly as she heard the front door open, knowing it was Roy. She quickly glanced at her watch; 4:30PM, he was home early today. Pushing herself up from the cushions, Quin turned to face Roy. "Roy, I think we need t' talk.."
