The AMAZING @royalavera created this fantastic commission of my Webtoons version of Erik and Christine! Excuse me while I lie on the floor sobbing over this masterpiece ✨️💖
I absolutly love Royalavera's artworks, especially those with Cherick (yeah, he's one of my favourite phantoms). Eventually, I've made my own fanart with Cherick, so @royalavera - thanks for the inspiration! :)
Yes, I really like 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton, and when I've been listening to this song last week, a strange association appeared in my head xD
And, yes, I love caligraphy <3
Fic questions... "Second Chances" 2, 3, 11 and 15. Hope it's not too much (it's special for me because it's the first PoTO fic I read, it's lovely, I cried internally)
2. What scene did you first put down?
I write in order, so this one's easy: the first scene I wrote is the first scene of the story, with Christine walking back to the Opera House to ask Erik for help, and reflecting on how the events of the months they'd been apart had led her to her current situation.
3. What's your favorite line of narration?
Oh, this one is not so easy - in fact, it was almost impossible to pick one. But, since I had to, here is a bit I'm partial to, from Chapter 8:
'Erik turned from the sheets of music scattered in front of him at the sound of his wife’s voice, rising to meet her at the door and take the baby from her. He gave them both a kiss on the cheek as he did so, having to stifle his slight amusement at how domestic Christine had made him. Long ago, he had told her that he would be as gentle as a lamb if she would just love him, but he wasn’t sure he had truly believed it, any more than he had actually believed she could ever love him. Apparently he hadn’t been lying to her, after all.'
11. What do you like best about this fic?
If I'm thinking strictly about the fic itself, I would say that it's probably the way the ideas in my head translated to the finished story - I mostly had a few of the scenes from the closer to the end in mind when I started writing, and to see how close they turned out to how I pictured them is pretty cool to me.
Also, if I'm going to be completely honest here, I have to mention the response that this story got. I have treasured each and every comment - I get quite emotional thinking about some of them even now! And to see the hit counter on AO3 keep going up every day, months after I posted the last chapter, has been pretty neat!
15. What did you learn from writing this fic?
Oh, so much! First of all, that I could even do something like this - although I have always been an avid reader, writing a 35k word story of any kind is something I never dreamed I could or would do.
Another thing I learned is that it's important to tell the story you want to tell, regardless of how you think it'll be received. I didn't necessarily think this would be a story very many people would like - although I had only been reading phic for a few months when I started it, I hadn't seen much at all done with this dynamic, so I took that as a possible sign that there might not be much interest, but I liked the idea, so I started it anyway. Then, after I posted the second chapter, I remember having a bit of a panic for the opposite reason - there was more interest in the first two chapters than I anticipated, and it made me afraid that what I had planned wasn't good enough. I even spent a few days wondering if I needed to come up with something people would like better, but in the end I realized that I just needed to stick with what I had planned, and whatever happened, happened. And, I definitely think that was for the best!
Thank you so much for this ask, Roy! I'm sorry it took me so long to answer it, but I had so much fun doing so, and I really appreciate it!
And, just in case, here is the link to read on AO3 <3
