Rules: In a text post, list ten books (oops Iâm listing seven) that have stayed with you in some way. Donât take but a few minutes, and donât think too hard â they donât have to be the ârightâ or âgreatâ works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag [ten] friends, including me, so Iâll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know youâve tagged them.
1) Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling :  This was the first mature series I read, and the first fanciful world I was ever introduced to.  To this day, it remains number one on my list, and nothing is ever going to replace this gem.  J.K. Rowling remains an inspiration to me: as a writer and as a person.
2) Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry : I read this book as a Junior in High School, and it has remained with me as the most chilling novel Iâve ever read.  Itâs written by the Vincent Bugliosi, the prosecutor in the Charles Manson trial.  I highly recommend it, though it is anything but a light read.
3) The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald : I read this book for school, but kept it for me.  The poetic writing and undertones about society and and human nature as a whole will always draw me back to it.
4) Vampire Academy/Bloodlines : No matter some of my opinions on the recent works, I will always love most of these series. No other books have ever inspired me to explore writing as much as these, and for that, I am forever thankful.
5) Paper Towns by John Green : I finished this book not long ago, and it quickly became my favorite by him (though Looking For Alaska is a close second). I believe Margo is my favorite character of his so far.
6) The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken : This series pulled me out of a ânot being able to finish a bookâ spell.  The contrast of such a dystopian setting in our current world is really captivating. The scene where the characters walk through the looted and abandoned Walmart is one I probably wonât forget.
7) The Mortal Instruments Series: I really enjoyed all of the different relationships in this series. Cassandra does a great job carrying an equal amount of friendship, familial, and romantic love throughout the stories. (Even though sometimes the familial and romantic love can be the same thing in this series⌠Aha.)
