Castiel was twice the age of the planet he touched down on with worn and borrowed shoes.

Corvid wings settled unseen against the angel's back, and the expression that took Rowena in was hard to read, even as his head tilted. It wasn't unlike a bird of prey, but he made no move to approach the witch crumpled and bleeding on the forest floor. Neither to aid, or to finish. For a long moment, he just stared. Unflinching. Unhurried.

"... You're a long way from civilization."

Someone else, he might have already moved to help up. Rowena reminded him of a far, far older matriarch. Mother Nature herself. Who tolerated his presence when necessary, but would sooner rend flesh from bone than be touched without permission. He imagined Rowena, too, would sooner swath herself in thorns than tolerate even helping hands uninvited.
