i'm not calling you a ghost | roson
Rose hadn't expected this to be easy. Nothing in her life had been easy so far, so why should anything have changed? After all, her lover had just been turned into a creature of pure evil and she was on a mission to kill him. That didn't exactly speak of a smooth, well-adjusted life. That didn't speak of improvement. No, this year had pretty much been the worst of Rose's life. She could handle all the stress of protecting Lissa - it was what she'd been made to do. And technically she should have been prepared to lose friends in the line of duty, but what had happened with Mason...it had left her in a state of emotional trauma that Rose still wasn't sure she'd escaped from. The guilt had been paralyzing, and though she'd received some closure with his ghost, his absence had left an immense hole in her heart that she hadn't even known he'd nestled himself into. Without his grounding presence, his easy smile - she felt a darkness seeping into her. How could something so sweet as him loving her have lead to something so awful? How could she have been so terrible as to not love him back completely, to not protect him from the storm that was her heart? It made her want to close off that part of herself forever.
But she didn't want to be hard, and ruthless, and cold. Rose wanted to be a great Guardian, but a fun person - a good best friend and a protector to Lissa. And yet she'd abandoned her. She'd had to, she knew that, she told herself every morning and still her chest ached by the end of every night. Rose had terrible dreams of Lissa, and of Mason, both calling out to her...and yet she could never reach them. God, it was awful. And - distracting. She was out every night searching for clues, someone to tell her where Dimitri's hometown was, but every night was feeling more draining since she barely slept. Still that didn't mean her instincts weren't on point. At least she continued to be capable of something. Even if it was just fighting, brutality, knowing how to kill to keep from being killed -
Rose frowned. Obviously she hadn't been good enough at her job. She probably wasn't now. But maybe if she did this one thing for Dimitri, she could move on and become to Guardian she was meant to be. She could be there for Lissa - and she could honor Mason's memory. As soon as she dealt with whoever the fuck was stalking her, because really, they were being terribly unsubtle. "Nice try, but you picked the wrong girl to mug in an alley tonight." She announced to her stalker, freezing on the spot. So maybe she was all dressed up for that stupid moroi-frequented club. It didn't mean she couldn't kick ass, and she was angry enough at the world to do it ruthlessly. "Why don't you come out, so we can have a chat about the rights and wrongs of stalking?"
domestic meme: roson
Who cooks: Mason. Definitely Mason. Rose pretty much couldn't care less about cooking, and she likes making Mason put on an apron.
Who does the laundry and other chores: They share them, though honestly they both do so much training that they leave things pretty messy most of the time, too exhausted to waste time on chores when they could spend time together.
How many children do they have: Rose doesn't want children. She thinks, maybe, sometimes - because Mason would be such a good father - but she could never abandon Lissa, not even for the time it would take her until she gave birth.
Who’s more dominate: Rose. Mason likes it.
Favorite nonsexual activity: Rose would say sparring, Mason would probably say swimming, since it gets Rose in a bikini.
Their favorite place to be together: They move around a lot, going to functions and important Royal Meetings with Lissa, so they're not too fussed about place. If they're together, that's what matters. Mason gets an assignment with Christian, so they almost always are.
Any traditions: Rose makes Mason birthday cupcakes. Once a year, she bakes, only for him.
Their “song”: If It Kills Me by Jason Mraz
What they do for each other on holidays: They hang out with Lissa and Christian, mostly just savoring having a bit of a "day off", even if Guardians are never quite off-duty.
Where did they go for their honeymoon: Rose refused to take more than a long weekend off, but they went to Vegas.
Where did they first meet: School, of course.
Any pets: Nope.
What do they fight over: Rose not giving enough to their relationship or taking care of herself - she's often obsessive about her work, and Mason is understanding, but even he can only take so much.
Do they go on vacations, if so where: They don't.
