17. Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on.

since posh and becks is still technically a wip even tho it’s finished, here’s this:

They have fun that night, and Harry doesn’t think of Liam much afterwards, but when he finally falls into bed at far too late an hour the last thing he thinks of before slipping into a dream is the image of Liam, when Harry had sent that last glance back, looking right back at Harry with a small smirk on his face.

25. Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?

hmmmm...maybe don’t let the tide come and take me? i def remember getting rly emotional when i thought of it though idk if i really cried while writing

29. Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like?

oh probably given me the thrill of a lifetime just bc the fics were never revealed so idk if ppl know that it’s me...i could like delete it and repost but i’m too lazy so it’s just gonna stay like that lmaooo

i actually can’t post it bc i’m writing amanda’s bday fic rn and it’s a secret so i can’t post anything from it skjfklsjflsf

19) any new fics to start next year

No, nothing definite in the new year! I’m trying to decide if there will be a new Giam one-shot to open up the year, as has been the case since writing/sharing At the Stroke of Midnight just after the new year back in 2016. So far, only a vague idea’s been dancing around, so I guess we’ll see.

20) number of comments you haven’t read

Ah, no longer belonging to an actual fic website means no more traditional reviews, so I have read every message I’ve received about my writing in this past year! I think there were a few I had to get to on 1dff right before the site went down (I think they were for the first half of Boring), but alas. I did a lot better with responding to my reviews on 1dff than I eventually did on JBFA, but the numbers were a lot different. 

21) most memorable comment/review

I received a lot of really great messages this year, from people who related to Rolly and Elementary because they, too, are teachers, or are learning to be teachers, or work in a school environment, and those were wonderful. I received a lot of messages about representation of WOC in my fics from appreciative readers who made my heart soar because they understand my mission. I received a lot of hilarious messages from friends after I dropped sangria out of the sky, and messages from readers about the drabbles that followed. I’ve appreciated all of these in ways I can’t even put into words. But recently, while talking to my friend Janelle @janellewrites about ROG and how it’s stayed with me despite how slow writing’s come, she said this and it stayed with me, too:

And I feel like I need to say that I really do think it’s special that this story has stayed with you so long. I just went & read your tags on the chapter posts and it reminds me of something one of my writing buddies told me awhile ago. Sometimes big ideas live with you so long because they’re waiting for you to catch up with them. Or in other words, there will be a time when you will be equipped with all the tools you need to make the words flow on their own and it doesn’t matter how long it takes to get there!

That was exactly what I needed to hear. 

22) events you participated in this year

None, sadly. I always want to participate in writing challenges but I am the literal worst at committing to them.

23) fics you wanted to write but didn’t

I’ve already mentioned two - Basketball Jones and Roots - but ROG could also be added to this list. I just wish I could speak those stories into existence and have the words write themselves, you know? Ah, if only.

24) favorite fic you read this year

There were a few, actually. bright baby blue by Natasha @wokeuptired is phenomenal - I love Jelly beyond words and find her so relatable. I read (and then reread and reread and reread) RJ’s @madminniefics one-shot, when time froze and HOWLED with laughter and then burned up by the end because Kaia’s characterization and her growing relationship with Niall was written so fantastically. Brianne’s @abejas-fic holiday one-shot, only wish this year, was the loveliest, coziest little Christmastime read. YOU came at me with full english and I fell head over heels for Amelie and Niall and Wallace. And my pal Cat @finding–cat returned with new writing in the form of one of the most captivating pieces of fiction I read all year, The Longest Sky. I have a ‘to read’ list that is miles long, though, so in the new year I’ll probably have lots of favorite things from 2017, but of what I did manage to get to, these are some of my absolute favorites.

25) a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

Damn, Marisa, back at it again with recommending everyone read The Longest Sky! It’s no secret that I’m Cat’s biggest fan and essentially the leader of her fan club, but biases pushed aside (because I do adore her as my friend, so I am a bit biased), this story is 110% worth your time if you like feeling things beyond measure. It’s brave, and honest, and touches upon the things we carry inside us that terrify us when they come to the surface because we are deeply afraid of being misunderstood. 

26) number of favorites/bookmarks you made this year

UM yeah I haven’t kept track of that. The ‘to read’ list is just long. That’s all I can say.

Probably one of RJ’s @madminniefics latest little drabbles, or a little teaser of something @janellewrites shared that was only a snippet of something larger, but it really struck me.

All I read was 1D fic, so…1D? Haha.

12. favorite character to write about this year

i answered this question last night and i think i put zanna or minna but this morning artie is my favorite because her journey is really complex and i can’t figure out where i want it to go. it’s nice to be challenged by my own writing in that way.

13. favorite writing song/artist/album of this year

a black mile to the surface and hope by manchester orchestra. i think manchester orchestra is my favorite music find of 2017.

14. a fic you didn’t expect to write

street like a frozen river. i posted the first chapter completely on a whim, which is something i try not to do, and it’s worked out so far (finger’s crossed it stays that way).

15. something you learned this year

i think i’ve reached a point where (for now, at least) i’m okay with what i’m writing and the amount i’m writing. maybe eventually i will want to pursue original fiction but for now writing is a way for me to think about something besides my job and that’s nice and okay with me. 

16. fic(s) you completed this year

this year i finished little giants and the double plaid, which had been hanging over my head since 2014, so that was very nice. also i wrote four one-shots (you, the ocean, and me; now that you know; look at me; the misfortune of knowing you). 

17. fics you’ll continue next year

Except Robles was anything but a jerk. Rolly would, most likely, be glued to his side all evening, like she and many others often were at work-related gatherings. It was something they jokingly referred to as ‘The Robles Effect’—Javier Robles just had a way about him, a warm demeanor and commanding presence that put you at ease in any social situation.

Sangria is my life (in more ways than one lolz😉) but that fic is everything

likes to go on drives to nowhere in particular

Teyana. Late nights in the summer are her favorite time for drives without a destination in mind, or anytime she’s got some things on her mind that she needs to sort out. Just her, and Niall, and the radio, windows down and fingers laced over the center console. 

is in charge of the radio or playlist in the car (and what do they play)?

They take turns. Sometimes they’re vibing on the same things, so it’s an easy choice. Usually, whoever’s in the passenger’s seat is the DJ. Together, they’ve got an eclectic taste in music, so anything aside from maybe country music is fair game. Niall plays rough cuts of Rookie Limelight songs for her sometimes, too, to get her opinion when the band’s a bit stuck on how to finish the track, sound-wise.

reaches over to hold the other’s hand 

Depends on the situation. Absentmindedly, probably Teyana. Whenever either of them just looks like they need it, the other always comes through.

favors lazy morning sex

Oh, dude, both of them. Too much. Too often. Or really, just routine. Skin to skin, slow kisses, and slow hip movements, and slow hands (ha, ha, ha).

reads the paper or watches the news

Niall likes to read the paper with his morning cuppa, and he’s a big fan of The Daily Show. Sometimes Teyana wakes up before her alarm goes off and she’ll put the television on the lowest volume she can manage and watch the morning news until Niall wakes up.

feeds and takes care of the stray cat that hangs around the house (and pretty much makes it not a stray)

Teyana, at first, but Niall would reluctantly catch on to the habit as well. It would grow fond of Niall very quickly, brushing up against his legs in the mornings and Niall would probably swear under his breath every time the thing got underfoot, fussing at Teyana for feeding him because “the damn thing keeps coming ‘round.” But Teyana would eventually find the little spare dishes she set outside filled with food and water before she gets to them, or catch Niall browsing around the pet aisle on grocery trips, hoping she doesn’t catch the treats he tosses into the basket after the bag of food she’s started purchasing each month. The cat’s a yellow tabby, skin and bones when he first visits, but plump and loved after some time. They name him Frito.

comes home with the weirder work stories

Teyana, probably. Sometimes the things people come searching for in the bookstore…

takes long baths 

Teyana. She enjoys a good soak, even more when Niall hops in fully clothed, splashing water every where. She usually forgives him after the first couple of kisses.

gives the other a massage when they seem tense

Both! Niall would say Teyana has the better hands, but Teyana would beg to differ. Niall’s hands on her lower back? Better than sex (well, almost).

is more easily turned on 

HAH. Probably Niall. It’s not that Teyana’s opposed to sex more than Niall, of course, but it’s easier to get Niall riled up. Think the ice cube thing in ‘sangria’. Teyana’s learned ways when she’s craving him, but there are times where her actions are unintentional and Niall gets that look in his eyes and his hands are on her waist before she realizes what she’s done. He’s an easy target.

prefers to kick back with a drink in the evenings

Niall likes a nice beer to close out the night from time to time. Teyana, most often, prefers a bit of wine or sangria. 

stays up too late reading

Niall stays up late reading articles on the internet until Teyana tells him he needs to go to sleep. Ranging from The New York Times to Billboard to Buzzfeed, Teyana’s used to hearing, “Hey, Tey, listen to this!” and knows Niall’s found something interesting that he wants to share. He’s a lover of gaining knowledge, regardless of the topic.
