meet test subject a5;Â R O S E, the fighter.
ROSE is SEVENTEEN years old, and was often mistaken for LINDSEY MORGAN before she entered the Glade. The box brought her up in MONTH FOUR and ever since then, sheâs been a RUNNER.
[YOU'LL ASK ME TO PRAY FOR RAIN]
Mara Lennox, believe it or not, was not always as cold and sarcastic as she has come to be now. Growing up, her family was as loving as could be under the circumstances. Her parents did all in their power to give she and her brother a pleasant, chaos free childhood. This considerate plan was seemingly on its way to successâ only to be thwarted by the Flare that snuck into their household.Â
It wasnât long before both her parents caught the Flare when Mara was at the age of fourteen, causing her to watch them go mad day by day. When Mara couldnât take it anymore, she ran away with her brother to find a safer place to live. Losing her parents also caused Mara to be more of a mother figure towards her younger brother. This of course caused them to have their ups and downs, but they managed to get a long well enough to survive. For years the two of them traveled across the country, desperately trying to find a place they could call home that wasnât infested with maniacs. One day, Mara left her brother at their temporary camp to go hunt for dinner. She came back with a wide grin on her face and a dead rabbit in her hands only to find pieces of her brotherâs body scattered across the ground. Scared and angry, Mara spent the day searching around camp, focusing on eliminating any threat in her way. When she declared the camp diserted and safe, she held a small, impromptu, funeral for her brother before setting off to find the killer.
After spending countless days trying, and failing, to hunt down the killer, Mara continued to look for a safe haven. The few good ones sheâd found were eventually raided and destroyed. It wasnât long after when WICKED found her, immediately telling her of her âspecial ability.â Mara didnât take it so well. She was outraged as to why she survived, but not her family. Mara joined the project willingly, determined to stop other families from suffering just as she had.
When Mara woke up in the Glade, all that she could muster up was the name Rose. Being as scared she was, the first thing she happened to do when she reached the top, was lash out on the first person she saw, convinced they were the ones who did all of this. It wasnât long after when Rose realized she wanted to be a runner. The job was alluring to her and she was sure, so sure, that itâs what she was meant to do.
[WITH ASH IN YOUR MOUTH, YOU'LL ASK IT TO BURN AGAIN]
Rose has always been one to do whatever she set her mind to. If she had started a project or set a new goal for herself, Rose would stop at nothing until she could walk away feeling like a winner. It had both itâs ups and downs, but she didnât care. While Roseâs used to taking care of herself, trying to find a way out of the maze to save her life is something completely different. Sheâs not quite sure how she feels about what her life has become and honestly, still feels a bit lost - not that sheâll let anyone know that of course. Rose is sure to make sure everybody thinks she knows exactly what sheâs doing and that hope is not lost yet. Because sheâs never been close to anyone other than her family, although she doesnât remember this, Rose is is well kept guarded. If you didnât know the girl well, youâd think she hates everyone and everything around her. Itâs the exact opposite, really. Rose does care and sheâs determined to help get every single one of these people out of the maze and into safety.
