FILM: As ROOT 1066 artists in residence we produced this stop-frame animation inspired by the historical and visual elements of the Bayeux Tapestry and the ROOT 1066 festival itself. In the spirit of the collaborative nature of the festival we engaged with other ROOT 1066 artists’ projects to inform parts of the animation, and experimented with new ways of responding to the work of other artists.

MUSIC: We are transposing figures on the the Bayeux Tapestry onto mechanical music box strips, to form the structure of your soundtrack.

RECORDING: We’ve been recording the rehearsals for CLASH. Pictured here is HASTINGS CALLING a new choir specially formed by Otti Albietz.

PRODUCTION: Etching, hand cutting and adapting elements for the animation rig.

PRODUCTION: Cutting and etching acrylic sheets and black paper for animated title sequences, and assembling the frames for the rig’s sliding mechanisms.

PRODUCTION: Etching acrylic sheets, filming through coloured cellophane and black card shapes.
