Vista Encantada - May 2018 There are several lookout areas on Roosevelt Point on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This one is called Vista Encantada and it is truly an enchanting view. MWM

Point Imperial at Roosevelt Point - May 2018 Grand Canyon North Rim Roosevelt Point is so named because someone thought that Teddy Roosevelt stood there to view the canyon. He didn’t, but if he had he would have called this a very bully view. MWM

Vista Encantada - May 2018 While driving back from Roosevelt Point, we stopped at the Vista Encantada to have lunch next to the Canyon. It is truly an enchanted view of the canyon. Although this image doesn’t really show much of the canyon, it does show that someone with limited mobility, like Kathy, can still see the beauty of the Canyon. Besides, I liked the way the blue of her shirt interacted with the natural blues and greens of the scenery around her. MWM

Roosevelt Point - May 2018 North Rim of the Grand Canyon There is no hard evidence that Theodore Roosevelt ever stood on Roosevelt Point looking out at the Grand Canyon. It is indisputable, however, that the view from this lookout point is spectacular. MWM

The Haunted View - May 2018 North Rim, Grand Canyon, Arizona There is nothing in the park brochures which explains how Vista Encantada at Roosevelt Point got its name. Encantada mean “haunted” or “enchanted.” It is truly an “enchanting” view... and the depth of the view and the loss of clarity as you see farther and farther up the canyon is also “haunting.” MWM

Roosevelt Point - May 2018 North Rim, Grand Canyon, Arizona It is fitting that one of the major overlooks for the North Rim is named for President Teddy Roosevelt. It is said that he liked the view from this point. I wonder if that is because the canyon beneath here looks even more rugged. MWM
