Double Trouble || Romeo + Cicero
Cicero was beyond bored. She'd spent the last month or two trying to behave herself, mainly because of the Warden's threat to have her moved to a new facility, but she was sick of it. Part of her was afraid she was losing her touch, and she couldn't bear the thought of that. Besides, she missed causing trouble. All she did these days was bully the newbies, and fun as that was, it had nothing on causing real pain. Sure, she tripped a few guards here and there, but that wasn't big enough for her liking. Which was why now, here she was, in the ballroom, about to set the giant drapes over the big window on fire.Â
If her idea of the guard schedule was correct, she had at least fifteen minutes before another guard would pass her way. Plenty of time. She'd stolen a lighter from the receptionist while she was on a smoke break (and in her mind, she was doing the woman a favor anyway-smoking was disgusting, and it killed you), and it had been hard for her to resist the urge to keep clicking it on and off, just watching the beautiful flame flickering on and off. She shook her head. It was time. Reaching over, she grabbed a bunch of ugly dried flowers out of a vase to use as kindling. Tossing the flowers into the drapes, she clicked the lighter and lit them, smelling the satisfying scent of smoke and lighter fluid. The flowers flared up immediately, slowly starting to catch the drapes, and Cicero snickered to herself. It was perfect. She leaned back against a table, taking a moment to enjoy the sight of the (in her opinion) particularly ugly drapes catching alight.Â
A moment later, however, she heard footsteps, and a shout. She sniffed the air. The smoke did smell kind of strong, but over the years, with all the fires she'd set, she probably had become a bit de-sensitized to the smell of smoke. She hadn't realized it had gotten strong enough to spread. The drapes were probably only half on fire at this point, but she had to run. Hearing the footsteps coming from one end of the ballroom, she furiously booked it towards the other. Just as she was sliding through the door, a guard entered on the other end of the room, spotting her, and the fire. Cursing to herself, Cicero ran, hearing as the guard began furiously shouting, wondering whether to chase her, or put out the fire. His end decision was to run after her, while radio-ing for some more guards to put out the flames. Shit. Furiously, Cicero raced down the hall. She barely even noticed as she nearly knocked over some guy she didn't recognize turning a corner, her eyes landing on a small supply closet, where she hoped she could hide from the guard.
