#romantic sideplots

As a writer, I make it my responsibility to incorporate different kinds of romantic relationships in order for my work to be both diverse and educational. Therefore, a few wonderful ships of my creation follow their own unique forms of romantic love.

And I’m making sure to make their relationships vague to avoid “spoilers”.

STRONGARM X SHARPCLAW I wouldn’t exactly label it as a “slow burn”, but it’s sure as hell slow. At first it’s just a mutually unconventional acquaintance, kind of situation, for Strongarm. While for Sharpclaw it’s an unfairly forced cooperation, with a popular authoritative figure that has personal connections that can be used against her most definitely. Their relationship continues to have this major power imbalance, which eventually escalates into an unrequited love trope. Then a forbidden love. Then a long-distance love. Then when their feelings for one another become mutually romantic, it still takes a while for them both to start committing to a relationship that they both have equal footing in.

BOULDER X PREDAKING Definitely a Beauty and the Beast trope where they’d meet in some less than ideal circumstances, but end up falling for each other the longer they spend time together. At first they were strangers—a Predacon who had no clue what a Rescue Bot was, and a Rescue Bot that didn’t know what a Predacon was—teaching each other their own values and various wisdoms they’ve gained through their own unique experiences. They soon became close friends, then eventually love-struck lovers. But they soon had to make big changes to their relationship once their duties became far more complicated and had to go long distance. And the funny part is that nobody else knew their feelings for one another since they never really told anybody else (Blades has his suspicions though).

KNOCK OUT X BREAKDOWN Two amazingly bonded Conjuxs. Plain and simple. Living the most amazingly mundane lives they’ve been looking forward to after the war ended. I mean yeah, Breakdown was terribly mutilated that one time—but he came back, don’t worry about it. He might have a tiny energon-draining-tentacle slithering in his intake, but it’s completely harmless now, thanks to Knock Out’s medical genius. Anyway, as soon as Breakdown took up construction and Knock Out started up his own business, they both felt it was the right time to start their own clan. So they adopted six Iron Apprentices. Originally they only adopted five, but one of them came with a twin, so that was a fun surprise.

Those are the only big canon romanti-ships that I have covered for my AU. The other ships I have “planned” aren’t as set in stone, and are less focused on in terms of importance to the plot I’m setting up.

But for funsies I’m just gonna list the ships that aren’t as plot-centered. Hell, some of these aren’t completely canonically romantic, more or less for funsies rather than committed relationships.
